It had been a few days after the events of the party. Josh hadn't been able to sleep or eat, or anything for that matter, he was internally, an emotional wreck devoid of any happiness . He had twenty-seven days to figure out a way to beat this blackmail from Vikk or his friendship and relationship with Tobi would go down in flames. The main thing was that he still couldn't really understand why Vikk had done all this, he had turned into a monster, a deceptive, cold-hearted snake who had betrayed everyone and yet he had no way to prove this. Vikk had caught all of the Sidemen in his web, not just Josh and Tobi. Vikk had played them all and yet Josh knew there was nothing he could do. There was nothing he wanted less than to end it with Tobi, he needed a miracle. The more Josh thought about it, it was quite ironic, the qualities Tobi had brought out of him more, his curiosity, his increase in confidence, his greater openness with people, these had led to what had happened with Vikk and would contribute to his and Tobi's end. He needed something to change everything around desperately.
Tobi on the other hand had noticed something was up with Josh, he had really enjoyed the party as had everyone else, he thought. Despite this, Josh hadn't been responding to him much of late, so he decided to go and reveal his surprise for him which he hadn't been able to give him. To be honest he wasn't sure what had happened to Josh at the party, after his invitation to follow him, he lost him and after awhile just socialised instead, assuming Josh had been busy talking to one of the numerous people there. He next saw Josh at the end of the party, in the early hours of the morning. Josh had wanted to just go to sleep, Tobi had had an inkling something had happened to Josh at that party.
"Hey Josh! I forgot that I never revealed my surprise to you at the party! I hope you like it!" smiled Tobi, looking to inject some fun and life into the dejected Josh.
"Oh hey" smiled Josh, not particularly brightly, "yeah go on then" he said, very melancholically, Josh was trying his best to put up a happy front as he knew the others apart from Vikk might catch on, but it was becoming incredibly difficult.
"Well, I've booked a week away in Switzerland to go skiing with the rest of the guys for the end of the month!" smiled Tobi
"That's brilliant!" said Josh in an upbeat tone, just about managing to hide his inner anguish. It then hit him. His month would be up during the holiday.
This news alerted the other Sidemen and the excitement was certainly palpable among them.
"Thank you so much Tobz! it's going to be amazing! I've never been skiing before so I'm really excited" chirped a peppy Simon, he had had good fun at the party, chatted to a lot of people and even found someone who had returned his strong feelings for them, knowing this would be an ideal event to reveal all.
"That's sick man! I'll show you all how could I can zip around on skis" shouted JJ, incredibly proud of how well his party had gone.
"It's about time Zingu showed what's he made of" laughed Ethan. He had had one of the best nights of his life at the party and had been waiting to tell everyone something important that had happened that night, this fact making him even more excited.
"It'll be good to have some lad time abroad!" said Harry, excited for the chance to finally have rebuilt everything with the others. He had proven himself at the party and made up for the mistake he had previously made. He was excited what this new year would bring.
"I just can't wait" grinned Vikk, staring directly at Josh.
Josh felt all the knives deep in his back.
The content the group had been producing had been of incredibly high quality at the start of this new year both individually and collectively. Despite this, the situation was catching up with Josh, his work the only way to take his mind off it. Could he break up with Tobi and just remain friends? He knew that wouldn't be enough for him anymore, or maybe even Tobi himself, he wasn't sure. On the other hand, if he did nothing, Vikk would reveal all and Josh knew he couldn't deny anything because it was true and Vikk was right, the guilt was starting to eat away at him.
At some point, a decision would have to be made.
Ten years would be in the balance.
