Mari's POV

Why. That was my only question for him. Why did that evil man hate us. Why did he try to get rid of us. What was his problem. Well, whatever, I have other things to worry about. I stood up from our empty dining room and quietly rounded the corner into the hall. I walked down and took a left in Ana's room. I needed to see if he actually did it.

"Hey...Ana..." Nothing. No reply. It was true. He actually killed her, sucked all of the life and spirit from everything that was hers. Like a lamb to a slaughter. I couldn't stand much of it any longer. I tore my eyes from her room. I looked down the hall to see all of our once occupied homes. Tears started to form at my eyes from these terrible, horrible memories in my past. I dashed down the hall to my own little home and landed on my bed. I had no one to comfort my sobs this year. My whole family was dead, the last being me. Everyone from the village hated us, me, because we weren't like the rest of them. We were Witches. Loren said that our family did some "magic" to destroy his life and reputation. He told rumors to the village people so they would also hate us. To be truthful, he actually destroyed us. We never laid a finger on him, not like he'd let us touch him anyway. He treated us like dogs, like we were his pets to go fetching some stick for him. I will make him pay though. If he wanted to mess with us, he just made a big mistake killing my sister first. I stood from my bed and wiped the tears away. I won't let him kill me Ana. I could feel her spirit come back a little. I inhaled. I had one year to do this. I grabbed my bottomless bag and packed for this journey. If I was going to get rid of him, I needed a lot of ingredients for this ritual.

No, this can not be happening right now. I was running blindly farther into the forest breathing heavily. I looked back. Good, I lost the wolves. I could probably afford to get hurt though. Being a witch has its perks, a good witch I meant. Not all witches are evil. Why am I talking to myself? Gotta keep moving, one year could suddenly pass by and I'd be hunted for billions for my absence at the ritual. I looked around. Such a pretty scenery for a forest. I followed a path and found a cottage in the middle of it. A small cottage, it was like a mushroom. I slowly walked up to it. It could be the cottage of the villagers, you never know. The door creaked open, and I poked my head in to check my surroundings. Let's see if I can do a spell without my wand...I closed my eyes, and I focused on and whispered a spell that would help me listen and see better than I normally would.

      Seeing better than any cat
Hearing clearer than any bat
Let me have this sense or two
To help me search this house through.

I'd have to get better at making spells, they do suck, but at least they work? Then, I felt a breath quicken behind me. I turned around quick as a tiger, and blocked, ready to hit. I saw a boy about my age. He had fallen from my quick reflexes. He had jet black hair and Arctic blue eyes. The eyes of a wolf, what a coincidence, though he was quite handsome.

"Who are you?" I backed up to a wall. We must've looked terrified of each other.

Aaron's POV

My pack and I were chasing some girl, she looked like Red Riding Hood, that's what we get for chasing some random girl. We lost her. How could some girl outrun a pack of wolves? I can't believe Loren made us chase this girl for what? Oh, doing nothing, but living her own darn life! But I hated Our "Master." My father to be exact, Loren. I hated him so much that I would help that girl if I could find her, I would abandon my pack to escape him.

I was just running back to my little mushroom cottage since I refused to live like wolves with them. I heard some footsteps and I stopped in my tracks, I was still a wolf so I was hoping I was silent. It was that girl, she cautiously approached my cottage as I snuck up behind her to check out what she was doing. Once I was right behind her, I silently turned back to my human form. Once I changed back, I was listening to her mumble something when I recognized the pattern. She was doing magic. I gasped, but I didn't mean too, and she turned around, knocking me down in the process. I looked up at her, She had purple eyes, the eyes of a witch, what a coincidence.

"Who are you?" She asked me. We must've looked terrified of each other.

"Who are you?" I repeated her question back to her. I think she tried to look intimidating, but she pretty much failed.

"Are you trying to kill me too?" She asked seeming tired of being chased I guess.

"No, just wondering why you were sneaking around my cottage." I smirked.

"Oh, this is yours?" She pointed to the place I called home,

"Yep." I replied. I stood up, "You can come on in if you want." I was just letting her into my cottage, something I'd never do, but she was just so captivating.

     "Oh, um, I don't know...."

     "I won't mind" I insisted.

"If I you insist" She knew didn't she. I walked inside and shut the door by pointing my finger at it, I knew some magic too you know. She jumped at the sound and kept looking back like something was going to kill her from behind.

"What's your name and what are you, I mean, are you a witch?" She had to be a witch if she was using spells earlier .

"I'm Marilynne, but you can call me Mari, and yes, I'm a Good Witch. What about you?" She emphasized on the word good.

"Aaron, half werewolf" How did I know she was going to ask me what the other half was?

"What about the other half?" She smirked.

"Wizard."

"Nice to meet you Aaron," she shook my hand as a greeting. Maybe she could help me get away from Loserface some. Seems like I've made a new friend.
