Aaron's POV

Our dads nervously laughed together giving each other looks. They did not know what they were going to get next.

Before I could scold them, Mari decided to say the first word.

"Explanation. Now." She shot daggers at both of them. Metaphorically. She glared the life out of those two. Man, did this girl have power.

Loren looked scared to death while her father just sighed.

"Mars, just, it's gonna be a long story okay?" Mars? What did that mean?

"I've got plenty of time." She simply stated leaning back in her chair.

"When Loren and I were young, we were the best of friends just like the brothers we were. But then, our parents hated each other because they were blaming one another. Why they were blaming each other? Loren ran away. I didn't help him. He begged, but even I didn't want him to go. He left and became who he is today. An-"

"Evil wizard who killed our family, but I don't think I believe that any more? Yeah."

He sighed once again.

"Mars, we had to cover it up. We couldn't let anyone know. I'm sorry, but we couldn't let you know that your mother died because of-" He abruptly stopped realizing what he just said.

"What? Mother is dead? I thought it was all a trick. What was the reason? Tell me, please." Mari was begging, something I never saw her do.

"I, I can't." His face softening, "It would kill me, and it would ruin the whole thing. The reason why we never let you know."

"What about me?" I asked out of curiosity. Since she knew why, I wanted to know why too.

Mari's POV

I fell back onto my chair. Mother was Dead. D-e-a-d, dead. I was frozen. Out of shock, sadness, anger, and grief. All these emotions were taking over me that I couldn't show them. I couldn't scream, cry, sob. All that was happening was that I was frozen.

Then, Loren started to explain why Aaron wasn't told.

"You are the worst at keeping secrets." Loren said, simply.

"What?! That it?" Aaron was more confused than furious.

"Yes, you would've gave it away. And you were apart of it. Your mother..." Before Loren could finished, he broke down. Sobbing, his face falling into his hands.

"I'm sorry, she hated you. You loved her so much, but why did you cover it up? It was her decision to leave. But it was your decision to kill her, Lo." Mari's father was comforting Loren.

"B-but I did it!" He cried out, "it was my fault. That's why-why, never mind."

Aaron's POV

"Um, so, 'Lo' huh?" I asked Mari's father.

"Yeah, I just shortened his name a few letters and you got a nickname, Lo." He explained.

"What's your name?" I questioned since he didn't tell me, and I was busy trying to get reasons earlier.

"Jerry is what they call me" He winked at me, like I was let on a secret or something.

"Dad! No one's ever called you Jerry, you nickel head!" Mari insulted her father.

He gasped and put his hand over his heart as if it hurt him badly. I had to hold in a laugh.

"Did you just call me a nickel head, Pumpkin face!" Her dad threw back which was surprised be as I thought he was going to scold her. Now they were just calling each other names.

"Barnacle brains!"

"Chicken feet!"

"Apple pie!" A new voice had come into the room.

"Ana!" I heard Mari yell, and literally ran as fast as she could to hug this stranger called 'Ana'.

I saw Ana laugh as she hugged Mari back, and she glanced around the room until her eyes fell onto me. Her joyful eyes suddenly turned dark, and worried. I winced. Why did she stare dangers at me?

"Aaron." She said once, and everyone turned to look at me. Even Mari shifted out of their hug to send me a confused look. Once she said my name, memories came back to me.

----------------

She was by the bushes where she usually sat. I walked up to her only to see an older girl block my way.

"Do you want to hurt her too?" She shot daggers at me which made me cower only a tiny bit, but that still made her satisfied.

"No, I play with her everyday, but Father and everyone else tells me not to. I don't know why. She's my only friend." I explained to this girl.

"Hmm, no tricks will be played on me." She simply replied. She shot blue magic at me. In a fraction of a second, I shot red at her blue. So her element was water, I'm guessing. Unless she had multiple.

"Next time." She smirked and disappeared into the bushes.

----------------

So her name was Ana. She shot that familiar blue magic at me, which I bluntly replied with some red magic.

She didn't look dumbfounded like she did back then, she only smirked this time round.

Oh, she was about to get herself into a mess.

She was playing fire with fire.

And she didn't know what was coming next.
