Aaron's POV

I sat in the chair the whole time, sitting and taking in the conversation they left me out of. My brother actually killed him? Or what? Out of the blue, Fred turned to me.

"Hey, could you do me a huge favor?" He asked.

"Um, it depends on what it is?" What could he be asking me?

"We need you to kill Mari." He said blankly. WHAT THE HECK. He want me, to kill Mari?!?! How crazy was he? He was her brother for goodness sake. Or was he?

"No," I refused.

"You do it, or you die." His threats won't work, if he killed me, he'd get convicted for murder, duh, I'm not that dumb.

"No thanks." I refused again.

"Look here, scumbag," Fred grabbed me by the collar of my shirt, but he immediately let go since it was burning his fingers. I used magic to burn him.

"Ow, what the heck man?"

I glared at him which actually surprising made him cower in fear, and told him some words of wisdom.

"Don't you dare tell me to kill someone or I will be the death of you." I threatened, and used a spell to make myself disappear.

I arrived at the entrance of this haunting place. On the outside it actually looked pleasant, but looks can be deceiving.

I started my journey back home to my safe little cottage.

Mari's POV

"Fred tried to poison me." I blurted out, and Jerald immediately broke from the chains hold. I took a step back as he cleaned himself up. He used a couple of ancient spells and he looked nice dressed up. He created a portal and started walking towards it.

"Hey, you coming?"

"Yeah, yeah" I said, mostly to myself.

"Now, let me explain something really simple okay?" None of our fake family have real magic except you, me, and mother." I winced when he said mother. I missed her, but I didn't like the mentioning of her since it still hurt.

"Then how did Ana use some earlier? And Fred too? And back when we were little, father used it. So did Loren. And how are they the different elements? And you said fake?" I was throwing questions at him left and right.

"They drink this special type of potion that gives them temporary magic, but it's artificial. And the different elements. It's not them. It's a lie, Mars. One big giant lie to get you to believe. They know how gullible you were and still are. I'm sorry, but they also aren't related to us. They never were. And they never will be. It. Was. A. Lie. Mars. Don't you get it?"

I shook my head, trying to understand what he is telling me, but I can't. It's too much to handle. How? Why? What for? When? Where? Questions were flooding my brain, and the last thing I saw was Jerald carrying me like baby and the bright green of the portal we were going into.
