"Did you not have a bad enough time the first date?" I asked jokingly.
"I had a great time, Sarah.. Come on show me 'round New York!" Rose insisted. A smile never leaving her pink, cupid bow lips.
"What do you want to see?"
"Surprise me." With that Rose and I were off for my so called "tour".
First we went to one of my favorite Italian restaurant, Romas. "This place is amazin'." Rose whispered as we were being seated at a secluded part of the restaurant.
"What can I get you ladies to drink?" Our waiter asked. Sitting our menus down. "Two waters and a bottle of Sauvignon, please." After a short bob of his head he turned on his heels and walked away.
"Wine?" The blonde questioned.
"Yes. Sauvignon is one of the best wines there is in my opinion."
"Never had it." The latter shrugged, "Sarah I'm not dressed up enough for this place. I laughed softly at the other woman, looking up from my menu.
" I think you look good, Cowgirl." I eyed of what I could see of Rose's body. She had on a blue blouse, with gold buttons that were buttoned up half the way. Leaving exposed skin and her white, lace undershirt to show. Her blonde hair, curled slightly at the ends. And her makeup light: Mascara and some sort of lip balm that left her lips pink and shiny.
"Well, thank ya but—"
"No buts about it you look great." Rose opened up her mouth to speak but was quickly interrupted.
"Here you are." Our waiter placed four wine glassed down: two full of water and the other empty for our wine. "And here is your wine." After putting the drink down, and removing the cork. He took our orders. Rose ordered the same as me, the aged four cheese lasagna. I poured us both a glass of wine and watch Rose's reaction as she drank the foreign, red liquid.
"You like?" She hummed in content.
"It's delicious."
Soon, after some small talk our meals came. "Ya know.." Rose spoke up, "this is my first date." I looked up from my plate and into Ocean blue eyes. "I mean, like I have never done this before. Even if we are just friends."
Just friends. Oh yeah.. God, I knew what we were but why did it hurt to hear the words?
I nodded looking back down to my food. "Thank ya, Sarah."
"Hm?" I pushed my fork into my food, avoiding her gaze.
"For takin' me." I finally looked up to see a beautiful smile on her face.
"Anytime, Cowgirl."
After dinner we both decided to head back to the apartment complex. Now we both stood outside Gloria's apartment door.
"I had a great t—."
"We haven't danced yet, Citygirl."
"What?""We haven't dance! I owe ya."
"You want to dance and now you are calling me, City girl?" I laughed.
"Ya call me Cowgirl."
"Dito." The latter giggled cutely unlocking and opening the door.
"Come on in and dance with me." She gestured to the apartment.
"Alright, Alright."
We walked into the room and Rose called out for Gloria but she was still out on her date.
"Good! We have the apartment to ourselves." Then the taller woman stepped over to an IHome stereo system that sat on a shelf and plugged her phone in. Soon music filled the living room.
"Is this country? Rose nodded walking over to me.
"Yeah, it's by Lee Brice." Her boots clicked against the wood as she moved closer to me. "May I have this dance?" The latter held out her hand and timidly I grabbed it and allowed her to pull me close.
"What's it called?"
"I don't dance." I laughed as Rose placed her hands on my sides and I snaked my arms around her neck. We began to move to the beat of the music. Everything seemed to fade away: my problems, heartache. . As I stared into her crystal blue hues.
'I don't dance, But here I am
Spinning you round and round in circles. It Ain't my style, but I don't care. I'd do anything with you anywhere. Guess you got me in the palm of your hand. Cause, I don't dance.'"Ya ain't too bad, Citygirl." I turned my head away from the woman.
"Thanks."
"Ya alright, Sarah?" Rose asked. Her tone laced with concern. I felt a hand leave my side and turn my chin gentle. So, our eyes met once again.
"I-I'm fine."
Sarah Catharine don't mess this up...
"Ya ain't," Rose's palm ran over my cheek. I leaned into the touch. "I can tell. It's in your eyes."
' Love's never come my way,
I've never been this far
But you took these two left feet
And waltzed away with my heart'"I–" I turned my head once again. As we continued to sway.
"Sarah..." Rose's gentle yet firm hands ran over my cheek then down my neck to my shoulder, "Ya can tell me anythin' you know?" Once more I turned, to have the latter's face much closer than it had ever been before. My eyes flickered to her perfect lips for only a slight second but I swear everything began to go in slow motion now. I leaned in.. She didn't flinch or move away. I continued my path to connect our...
"I'm home!" We both jumped from each other as Gloria made her entrance.
'No, I don't dance, but here I am
Spinning you round and round in circles. It ain't my style, but I don't care i.'d do anything with you anywhere. Guess you got me in the palm of your hand, girl. Cause, I don't dance. Ohhh. I don't dance'"Are y'all listen' to I don't dance! This is my jammmm." Gloria spinned into the room as she sang along to the lyrics.
"I–I was just going.." I made my way to the door awkwardly.
"Here let me walk ya." Rose ran after me and led me out of the apartment and to my front door.
"I'm sorry about earl—" I began but was cut off by Rose's finger pressed against my lips.
"I had an amazing night with ya, Sarah." She removed her finger, "We'll have to do it again sometime." I nodded in agreement.
"Me too." I sighed, "Well, uh goodnight." Rose smiled sweetly before leaning in and placing a quick kiss to my cheek.
"Goodnight, Citygirl. Sleep tight don't let the critters bite." Too stunned by the feel of her plush lips on my skin I stood as stiff as a statue.
"I-I U-Uh.. Yeah.. Night." I unlocked my door and went inside. Waving at the other woman, stupidly as she walked back to her apartment. I shut my door and my eyes. Lifting my hand to touch the spot her lips had only moments before.
This girl is gonna kill me..
