2:Two's A Company

I stood in the kitchen making lunch for myself, when I heard the familiar ringing of my phone from the living room. After sitting the contents in my hand down, I walked around island and into the other room. Just as my phone was on it's last ring I picked it up, and answered it.

"Hey, babe." I heard my partner's voice on the other line and smiled happily.

"Hello, darlin'. What's up?"

"Guess who just got the part as Ashley on American's next big TV show, Two's  A Company?" I hummed, feigning ignorance.

"Oh I don't know? Um.. Scarlett Johansson. God I hope so she's a -"

"Rose!"

I laughed softly at my girlfriend's tone. "Good job, City Girl. I'm very proud of ya."

"Thank you," Sarah replied. "Now Miss.Sarcasm would you like to come have lunch with me and a few of the cast members?"

I walked into Nighthawk's and greeted the hostess.

"Do you have a reservation?" She asks me, waiting for my response. I glance around looking for Sarah, and I spot her sitting in a booth.

"Actually, no! My girlfriend is sittin' over there. I'm meeting her and a few others for lunch, but thank ya."
I give her a smile and made my way over to her.

"Hey, darlin'," I say. My beautiful city girl looks up from her menu and stands up to give me a kiss.

"Hey, babe I got us a booth in the corner, I hope you don't mind. If you want I can ask for a table, but there's a lot of us coming."

"Oh, I don't mind, love," I reply. I sit down across from her and take up a menu to see what's good. I'm looking down the left side and a voice interrupts my concentration.

"I'm sorry, I'm a tad bit late! Traffic was a little disastrous today. I- oh, well who might you be?"

I glance up and before I could say a word, Sarah chimes in, "Meryl! This is Rose, Rose this is Meryl. We'll be working together."

I have no words. I'm at a loss. Meryl Streep is here and she's my girlfriend's cast mate.

My jaw falls slightly open in awe, still unable to communicate.

"Mind if I scootch next to you, dear?"

"Yes. I mean no. That's- you're fine. You're okay, ya are good, I mean," I say.

"She's a little speechless, as you can tell," Sarah laughs.

"Oh, that's alright," The older actress smiles brightly at me." She's precious!"

Did she call me precious? Me? Lord have mercy.

"Now, let's see here. Who else is coming?" Meryl asks Sarah. Sarah looks up from her menu and pulls out her phone to check the status of where everyone is.

"Oh, shoot. The other three cast mates said something came up but they said we could all meet another time."

"Just us three then! Perfect! I'd love to get to know your friend here," Meryl says looking over to me.

"Actually, she's my g-"
Meryl cuts Sarah off unintentionally to ask me a question.

"So where are you from, sweet thing?"

"O-Oklahoma, ma'am, I-"

"Oh, God. Rose, please call me Meryl. Ma'am makes me sound old, and trust me, I'm as young as you are if I'm around the right people to bring it out," she leans in and winks at me.
I can't help but laugh and blush a little from how sweet she is.

"Alright, Meryl it is then!"
