"Okay," I sighed. "I'm nervous." Gloria laughed and patted me on the back sympathetically.
"She'll love it." I shook my head.
"But what if she doesn't.."
"I'm tellin' ya, ya didn't have to get her anything she still loves ya all the same."
"I know," I shrugged. "I just wanted to get her something she'd actually like."
"And you did." The latter smiled widely. "It's perfect."

I cautiously opened the door to Sarah's apartment. "Sar?" All of the sudden the lights flashed on and a few people popped out from behind the furniture.
"Happy birthday!" I covered my agape mouth in complete shock.
"Thank y'all!" I mumbled into my hand, while Sarah made her way over to me.
"Happy birthday, love." She pressed a chaste kiss to my lips. "Is this okay?" I looked around the decorated apartment and my smile grew.
"Defiantly."
-
"This is Lily Rabe and Zachary Quinto" Sarah introduced me to her coworkers.
"Thank y'all for comin'."
"Your accent is precious," Zach cooed.
"Ignore him." Lily mouthed quietly.
"Thank ya, I guess?" I laughed nervously. I felt Sarah wrap her arm protectively around my torso.
"Wanna meet the rest of the crew?"
-
"Bye guys!" Sarah waved the crowd out, happily before turning to me with a broad, toothy smile spread across her face.
"What do ya have planned next, City girl?" I teased.
"Close your eyes," Sarah deadpanned and I obliged. "Now hold out your hand." I did as she asked and held out my right hand, and I felt something be delicately placed in my palm. "Now open your eyes, princess." I opened my eyes and glanced down at my open hand: There laid a grey, velvet box with a note attached. Slowly I peeled the note off and silently read the cursive writing.
Happy 24th birthday babe!
Here is a little congratulations/ Birthday gift for you.
I love you, Rose.
-Sarah"Congratulations... Wait, oh my.. Does that mean I-" My girlfriend nodded furiously.
"They called today," she bit her bottom lip. "My girlfriend is now the host of Ortaggio, New York City's next big thing." She pointed to the box in my hands. "Now go on, open it."
Slowly I opened the box and revealed a gorgeous necklace. "Oh, Sar.."
"Do you like it?" I adverted my attention from the jewelry piece to my girlfriend. Sarah is all mine and I'm all hers. Not many people encounter the love we have so quickly, and I believe that makes me the luckiest woman alive to have someone that understands me. Who cares for me without question. I sat the box down on our coffee table, before cupping her cheeks with my hand and pressing my lips firmly to her own.
"Thank ya," I uttered breathlessly. "I love it and I love you, Sarah." I suppressed my accent the best I could then crushed my lips to hers once more. "Don't leave." I breathed against her lips. "Ever. It'd hurt too damn much."
"Never."
