– The next morning –

I groaned as I stretched in bed. My arms, legs – actually everything – hurt terribly. I still had to get used to some totally normal human things after nearly two years being one; like applying sun lotion when staying out in the sun the entire day on a tropical island in summer... It was such a wonderful human experience that I could live without. I should have really thought about it way earlier, but well. I lay in bed like a starfish with my arms and legs spread apart so that my skin touched as less fabric as possible. I only wore a light satin night dress, but that already irritated me.

"Carlisle," I whined and sighed dramatically.

"The doctor is already arriving!" Carlisle came rushing in from the living room with a little tray in his hands. He wore a brilliant but sympathetic smirk when he walked inside like a Greek god. Naturally he could stay out in the sun as long as he wanted...

"Don't look so perfect," I grumbled. That earned only a bigger smirk. He quickly put down the tray on the nightstand and sat next to me.

"Here, take these and a big gulp of water." I took the two ibuprofens and the glass of water after sitting up with a groan of pain. Carlisle nodded and smiled approvingly and then took a bottle of berry lotion and poured a lot onto his palm. Without uttering a word he started to lotion my left leg and my instant reaction was a startled yelp of pain.

"What are you doing?" I demanded and withdrew my leg at once. Carlisle wouldn't have anything of it though and took my foot into his hands and any struggles were fruitless. I glared at him, but the sweet husband of mine only grinned more.

"I need to moisturize your skin if you want the pain to go away quicker."

"But it hurts," I grumbled, but let him do it anyway. After my legs he went on to my arms and then my neck and back. The back was the worst spot and especially my shoulders felt like on fire. I grumbled a lot as Carlisle lotioned those spots.

"You are worse than my patients," he chuckled, but didn't stop for a second. I at least had to admit that his cold hands helped a lot. They felt like ice packs against my skin and that felt so good. Carlisle was just finished when he just planted a kiss right between my shoulder blades. I giggled and – very carefully – turned around to face him as he hovered above me. "Finished with the lotion," he grinned.

"Oh, I don't think so." I bit my lip and took a bit of lotion and applied a lot to it to the bridge of Carlisle's nose and beneath the eyes. He looked like a Native American with the lotion applied like a war paint and I laughed out loud.

"Now we are finished with the lotion," I giggled. Carlisle smirked evilly at me and took some lotion. I tried to flee as he came closer with his hands, but because he was halfway sitting on top of me, that was not possible. I squealed as cold lotion landed on the tip of my nose, but had to laugh at the same time as I tried to fend off his hands. The next time he got my belly and I giggled at the cool temperature and the slight tickle. "Stop, stop," I laughed and finally was able to grab his hands.

"Do you surrender?" I looked at him and smirked. I didn't lose eye contact as I slowly let go of his wrists and reached out to his face. He eyed me suspiciously and amused, but I only spread the lotion along his cheeks with my thumbs and then linked my hands around his neck and pulled gently. Carlisle at once leaned down over me and I could kiss him. He applied the remnants of the lotion on my cheeks when I wasn't paying attention and I had to laugh against his lips.

"Carlisle!" He only grinned broadly and watched me.

"You didn't say you surrender."

"What makes you think I do?" I challenged him and cocked an eyebrow.
