Chapter 14 -Decisions, Decisions...;)-

Halloween!
 Every year kids are getting into costumes to go trick or treating. I didn’t grow up with it, but our children certainly do. For Carlisle and me it was weird at the beginning and we didn’t really celebrate it until after all our children were there. Last year in fact was the first time we really had a party at the house. It had been Carlie’s first Halloween and Alice had converted the entire house. I always find it weird to think back even it is just a year. So much happened in just a year. And well, now we are having a carefree Halloween again with the entire family. Jacob and the wolf pack couldn’t come because they had a slight problem with a vampire, but they assured as they we didn’t have to worry. Charlie had to work and so it was just the closer family plus Anna and John with their two boys. We would celebrate it in our house together and we might go trick and treating with the kids later.

“So, everyone ready?” I asked as I put a jar in the middle of the dining room table. “So, just for understanding it correctly… We should each write a theme for our costumes on a piece of paper and the couple has to get dressed as the one you picked?” Emmett asked. “Yeah,” I nodded. He nodded and leaned over his piece of paper pensively. I settled down in the chair next to Carlisle and thought about a cool theme. Carlisle glanced down at the paper and I playfully hid my paper. He smirked and returned to thinking about it. It was a month to go till Halloween so we had to decide now.

 We had tried it differently before, but we would never find a right theme that everyone liked, so drawing lots was the best solution. A minute later everyone put the pieces into the jar and I mixed them before going around and letting each couple pick something. “And Nessie and Carlie go with the theme we respectively you two have?” Bella asked. “I guess so,” I thought about it. She nodded and was the next with picking one. When we were all through I settled down and we all looked at our piece of paper.

“Oh, man! Whose idea was that??” Emmett groaned and threw his head back. Rosalie took the piece of paper curiously and had to laugh as she read it. “It isn’t really scary, but well.” “Not scary? I have a different opinion on that,” Emmett mumbled. Rose showed all of us the piece and I laughed out loud. It read care bears. “That’s… I don’t have words for that,” I laughed and couldn’t possibly imagine Emmett in a pink teddy costume with a rainbow on his stomach. “I like it,” Renesmee chimed in and looked like a cat that ate the canary. “You!” Emmett glared at her but had to laugh. “I should have thought so, you always come up with the mean stuff,” he boomed. Nessie let that one go and looked quite satisfied with Emmett’s choice of costume.

I looked at our slip of paper and Carlisle peeked over my shoulder curiously. “We are going to be villains,” I smiled and showed the paper to everyone. “That’s so cool! I would have made the perfect costume,” he mumbled but was already back to his cheery self. “You should have picked better,” I winked at him. “We are Alice in Wonderland,” Alice giggled. Jasper looked satisfied with the costume. I think everyone of the guys was happy that they haven’t picked Emmett’s piece of paper. “We are… superheroes,” Bella giggled and showed it to Edward. “On Halloween, we are going to be enemies,” Edward winked at us. “Oh, well, let’s see who wins,” I winked back.

“So, if that is settled, we should get the costumes ready,” I said and got up. Carlisle followed as did Edward, Bella, Renesmee, Alice and Jasper and Rosalie. “Wait, can’t I pick another one? There are enough left…” Emmett pleaded. “No, I want to be a care bear,” Rose said determinedly and dragged Emmett away from the table. “You are a villain, Nessie,” Emmett winked at her. She only shrugged and walked with her parents into the living room. “I think we should think about the costumes before Carlie wakes up,” I suggested. “Sounds good,” Carlisle smiled and got the laptop when we settled down in the living room as well.

“It’s your turn first,” I smiled and took the laptop from his lap. He smiled and laid his arm around my shoulders. “Then let’s see.” I searched for villain costumes and found quite a few interesting ones. Carlisle looked through them curiously, “that’s hard, I can’t really decide…” he sighed. He took the laptop from me and searched for a costume for me. His eyes nearly popped out at a tight black jumpsuit. “As much as I would want to wear that, I have quite a problem getting into that,” I laughed and rubbed my stomach. “Yeah, what a shame,” Carlisle said but I heard how half-heartedly it was. “Carlisle…” I laughed. “Are you jealous?” “No,” he defended himself quickly. I laughed harder and Edward and Bella had to laugh at our conversation as well.

“We find it difficult as well,” Bella admitted. “A bit of help wouldn’t hurt right now…” I sighed. “Why not?” Carlisle asked suddenly and got up. I looked confused at him. “What do you mean, honey?” “We just make a vote and we take the costumes that have the most votes for the villain resp. superhero costumes,” he smiled triumphantly. “Sounds good,” Edward smiled and closed the laptop. “And who are we going to ask?” I asked curiously. “Everyone! I mean, everyone we know and then we’ll see. It will be fun,” Carlisle cheered. “Since when are you so enthusiastic about Halloween?” I giggled. “Since now,” he smirked and swept me up for a kiss. “I get to go to university in a villain costume,” he winked. “I want to see the faces of your students then,” I chuckled. “Provided that we will celebrate Halloween there of course.” “That would be fun, no doubt,” I told him and kissed him once more.

“So, the great question is: what superheroes and villains are we gonna be for Halloween?” Edward smiled.

So, what costumes would you like for Carlisle, Esme, Carlie as well as Edward, Bell and Renesmee? I thought it would be a great idea to have a vote here:) I know I had promised the Halloween chapter way earlier, but I still wanted them to celebrate it.
