Chapter 53:

Olivia's POV:

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is the last boarding call for Flight D37 heading to Miami, Florida. I repeat, this is the last boarding call for Flight D37 heading to Miami, Florida. Thank you and have a safe flight," the annoying woman's robotic voice announced over the intercom system in the airport. Teachers and students filled the waiting sections, some with their families, as we waited for our flight.

Sadly, today was the day that the first half of the foreign exchange student program ended, and I was dreading it. Soon, were all going to head our separate ways again, not knowing if distance will be an issue in trying to keep in touch.

The girls noticed my moody behavior this morning as we were packing our suitcases, and they managed to cheer me up a tad, but I still feel sad. On the other hand, I was excited to go back home! I missed my family, my friends, my school (more or less), and the beach. I could not wait to get back out in the sun, even if it is winter.

In the airport lobby, everyone I knew was there to wish us goodbye. Niall, Liam, and Zayn (who didn't participate in the program) chatted with us as we waited. Harry and Marisa's family were there as well. I asked Louis about his and he said that they couldn't come to the airport, so they wished him goodbye before he came here.

Harry was proudly showing off his new 'Hipsta Please' T-shirt today, and his hair was pulled back into a grey beanie. His mom scolded him for not looking nice, but I thought he looked cute. Smiling, I wrapped Harry's leather jacket tighter around me. I haven't bothered to give it back yet.

Looking at everyone around me, I realized just how much I'm going to miss this place. AJ noticed my slight mood change and comfortingly rubbed my back. "You okay?" she asked.

I sighed, nodding my head. "Yeah, just a little upset," I smiled weakly at her. She smiled back, understanding what I meant.

"It sucks. But who knows? We could end up attending to Manchester University," she nudged me. I shrugged, smiling slightly. Yesterday and Saturday, Marisa's mom took the three of us girls on a small trip to The University of Manchester. She claims that since we're in England, we might as well check out one of the best schools here.

Claire introduced us to a woman who taught at the university. On Saturday, she gave us a tour around campus and of the different buildings and lecture halls. It really was beautiful. We spent the night in an empty dorm room, and went on an actual, campus-provided tour the next day. I learned that the university was a science and technology based school, which was cool because back home our school was big on technology. It was just nice to see something familiar.

Sunday evening, after returning home, AJ, Marisa, the boys, and I all spent the rest of the day acting like complete fools in Zayn's house. We all made a pact: to keep in touch no matter what. Obviously we had to make up a little group name, calling ourselves the Extended Avengers.

AJ and I were already Iron Man and Captain America seeing as we already had the phone cases. Marisa chose the Hulk. Harry chose Spider-Man. Louis was Superman. Liam was Batman. Zayn was Flash. Niall was Thor, leaving Chase with the decision of Green Lantern.

AJ and I made ourselves a note for Christmas to find and order everyone phone cases just like ours to match their character. It's like the cooler version of friendship bracelets.

The PA system in the airport beeped, pulling me from my thoughts. "Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. Flight D52 to Santa Barbara, California will begin boarding within 5 minutes. I repeat, Flight D52 to Santa Barbara, California will begin boarding within 5 minutes. Thank you and have a great day," The monotone voice spoke again. Sighing, I stood up to give my goodbyes. This was it.
