Chapter 70:

Olivia's POV:

"Guys! Guys! Guys! GUYS!" Andrew's voice grew progressively louder as I heard him sprint down the hall. My eyes widened, and AJ and I stared at each other. Marisa exited the bathroom with the same confused face and a towel wrapped around her body.

"Is that-"

"Yes," I cut Marisa off. I wasn't sure what to tell her because I didn't know myself. Why is Andrew here?

He doesn't live here. We're at AJ's house.

We stared at the bedroom door until Andrew burst through it, panting and in his pajamas. He studied over us until his eyes landed on Marisa, and he covered them immediately. "Sorry. I... should've... knocked first," he gasped for air.

"I'm gonna..." Marisa jutted her thumb towards the bathroom behind her, and I nodded. She disappeared behind the door, and Andrew peeked through his fingers. When he noticed she was gone, he let his arm fall to his side.

"What are you doing here?" I asked. It is almost time for us to go to school, and it's our turn to stay at AJ's house for the week. He held up a finger and hunched over until he caught his breath.

"Okay, I think I'm good," Andrew announced as Marisa emerged from the bathroom fully dressed. "Sorry, I didn't mean to barge in on you like that," he apologized to her, and she brushed it off.

"Now that you're good... why are you here?" AJ asked. It's not like she was trying to be rude, but he did show up unexpectedly at her house.

"I ran here. We do live in neighboring neighborhoods, you know?" he used the back of his hand to wipe off sweat on his forehead. That still doesn't make sense. He has his own car too.

"Okay, again, why are you here?" Marisa laughed at how he seemed to not know the right answer to that question.

"Oh, right. Well, you know how it was really warm the first week you guys were here? And remember that one day before school when we were watching the news, and they said that the heat wave was moving south? Well, I've been doing some thinking and talking to Ashley. What would you guys think about a weekend trip?"

Despite having been gasping for air a minute ago, Andrew was talking very fast. I almost didn't understand what he was saying.

"A weekend trip? To where?" I questioned and began pulling on my shoes.

"We can give them the ultimate California experience! One without parents or anything, so it'd be great for all of us to get together. We'll leave Friday and drive down to San Diego."

I wondered how much thought was put into the planning of this trip. I'm all for it, but I really don't want to show up in a city four hours away and not have a place to stay.

"How much of this do you have planned out?" I asked skeptically. Out of the three of us girls, I definitely have the most experience in Andrew's failed road trip attempts.

"Don't worry. Ashley's doing all of that," he waved me off, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Ashley, on the other hand, was slightly OCD about these trips. We can definitely rely on her.

"So it'd be us three, you, and Ashley?" AJ asked. She began braiding her hair and that reminded me of my own. It was not cooperating today and is very... voluminous.

I sighed, and Andrew shook his head. "You guys can invite whoever. Ashely and I aren't bringing anyone, but I assumed you'd want to bring Harry and his crew," Andrew responded. "Or it can just be us five."

The four of us shared glances and shrugs. "I guess we'll think about it," AJ told him, and he nodded.

"Okay, but just remember that today's Tuesday, and we'd leave on Friday."
