"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." – Matthew 6:19-21
The world tells us that unless we have the latest phone or fashion, or if we own a big house or a smart car, we are – lame.
Some people worship their house — something that isn't alive.
Some people worship their car — something that isn't alive.
Some people worship their cell phones — something that isn't alive.
Now, there's nothing wrong with wanting to keep your car smart and shiny; there's nothing wrong with wanting to live comfortably; there's nothing wrong with wanting something to communicate with people.
It's when it becomes all we do, all we want and all we focus on.
And that's the problem.
One day, after you've received Jesus into your life and are on the right path, when we go to heaven — we can't take our cars, houses and cell phones with us.
It will be destroyed.
Think of all that hard work to earn those things; all for nothing.
Nothing.
Nada.
Zip.
We're too busy with our little gadgets and gizmos to focus on what God wants.
Same with dating — we focus on having the perfect boyfriend or prettiest girlfriend, instead of what God wants us to do — spread the word of Jesus.
How can we do that if we're too busy with people and objects?
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Money." – Matthew 6:24
Yes, we all need to money to survive in this world, but that doesn't mean that's all we focus on.
But don't worry.
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" – Matthew 6:25-26
The Lord is Good.
God Bless.
