Newts Little Sister (The Maze Runner)

Chapter Seven

AUDREY'S P.O.V
No more than fifteen minutes past before I woke up. Newt was on my left and Minho, the rest of the climbers, and a few gladers were surrounding me. I was lying in a medjack bed. I sat up really fast and started seeing black spots again.
"Slow down" Newt said and put a hand on my shoulder so i would lay back down.
"Chuck can you go get the medjacks?" he asked looking at the younger boy.
"Yeah" Chuck replied standing up from his kneeling position. He ran out and Newt turned to the other boys. "Okay go back to work. She's fine." they all nodded and said good bye. Minho hesitated like he wasnt sure if he should leave but I gave him an assuring smile that told him I felt alright. When the room was empty Newt looked back at me.
"You scared the bloody crap out of me." he said dead serious
"Believe me i feel the same way." I said propping myself up on my elbow slowly so I didn't make my head hurt any worse.
He sighed realizing he said it a little harshly.
"I'm fine" I assured him, "okay? I'm okay." I could tell he was worried. I sat all the way up, but a wave of pain came over me and it felt like I had hit my head all over again. I put my head in my hands only to realize one of my wrists hurt like hell too and Newt stood.
"What's wrong?" He asked as he rubbed my back.
"My head," I replied
The door opened and Clint and Jeff walked in.
"How you feelin?"
"My head is killing me And my wrist hurts a lot,"  I said holding it. There was a bandage wrapped around it half way to my elbow.
"Yeah we think you sprained it. Just keep it wrapped for a week or two." Clint told me and I nodded.
"I have to go but I'll see you later okay?" Newt said standing up
"Okay." I replied
"Make sure she rests for a while." he said as he walked away.
After half an hour of being checked out by medjacks they left so i could rest. Even though I wasn't very tired I still fell asleep. I had to have been out for a few hours because when I woke up it was starting to get dark out.
I heard screaming coming from outside. I slowly stood up and looked out the small window. Jeff walked in the door just as I got to the window.
"You should be resting." he said. My head felt a lot better than it did before.
"What's happening?" I asked him
"You don't wanna know." he told me.
I looked out the window and saw the boys by the entrance into the maze. My worst thoughts were confirmed. I could see the banishing poles standing high above their heads. Someone was being banished.
"Who is it?" I asked
"You don't wanna know." he told me again.
I ran past him out of the room. I had a pretty good idea of who it was. The main rule Alby had in place
As I got closer two people were standing further from the others. It was Thomas and Chuck.
"There he is,"  Chuck said after a few seconds. I looked at him and saw that he was pointing towards Minho and, who appeared to be, Ben.
"What happened to him?" I asked
"He got stung." Chuck said quietly looking at the ground.
I looked at Thomas. "Is Ben the person who attacked you earlier?" and he nodded in response.
Minho was holding Ben by the back of his shirt. His hands were tied behind his head and he was struggling to break free. His skin was a sick color of purple and white with dried blood on his chin. I had to look away. I looked at Newt instead. His eyes were sad but filled with anger at the same time as he watched Ben. He was sad he had to banish a friend, but mad that Ben had hurt two other gladers including his sister. I knew it wasn't Ben's fault but rules are rules.
The wind came through the entrance of the maze warning us that the doors were about to close. I watched as Minho threw a pack of useless supplied into the door. Then the keepers used their tall spears to push Ben in. They made him go about half way into the maze when the walls were about to shut completely. Ben realized he would either have to go in or be smashed between the walls. He turned and ran into the maze and all of the boys pulled their spears back. Ben screamed as the doors closed. I looked to the side as the loud boom of the closing doors sounded and bens screams died away.
"He belongs to the maze now." Alby announced
