Today was a new day, but the things they found out are still on the paper. Jay decided to go check on Evie. He hoped she would be fine and not have freaked out or something.

When Jay reached her room Evie was awake and sitting on bed playing with her fingers. "Hey Eves" Jay said.

Evie looked up from her fingers to Jay "hey"

Jay walked up to Evie and put her behind her ear. "How you feeling"

"Better I guess" Evie said sadly looking down at her nails again.

Jay looked concerned " Eves what's wrong" Jay said taking a seat.

Evie tapped her blue painted nails " ummm nothing everything's fine"

Jay sighed and thought "should he mention the diary entry? No, he should leave it alone for now right?"

"You sure because you seem a bit more sad today" Jay said as he he took her small hand in his larger one. Evie looked at him with eyes seeking love. Jay could tell she was seeking love, attention, and affection that she hasn't found in such a long time.

Evie sighed and looked down. Jay could tell what was going through her mind. That is a bunch of things. Jay brought his hand up to her chin and lifted and looked at her face "Evie you know you can tell me anything, right?"

Evie nodded "I know it's just some things are better left unsaid. Right now that is" Evie corrected herself.

💙 a couple days later💛

All the students at Auradon Prep  (besides Evie) had to go to a 13 year old girls funeral. They said it was undetermined how she died, but no one expected it. Her name was Annalaya. She wasn't a daughter of any prince or princess or for that fact nobody that a prince even knew. She was just a regular girl.

A regular girl who was always happy and never afraid to be herself. She had something called NF before, but it never effected her much.

The service was about the end and all through it all Jay could think about during the whole thing was Evie.

The last thing at the funeral was a memorial video. It was some song called Heaven is the Face by Stephen Curtis Chapman

Heaven is the face of a little girl

With dark brown eyes

That disappear when she smiles

Heaven is the place

Where she calls my name

Says, "Daddy please come play with me for awhile"

God, I know, it's all of this and so much more

But God, You know, that this is what I'm aching for

God, you know, I just can't see beyond the door

So right now

Heaven is the sound of her breathing deep

Lying on my chest, falling fast asleep while I sing

And Heaven is the weight of her in my arms

Being there to keep her safe from harm while she dreams

And God, I know, it's all of this and so much more

But God, You know, that this is what I'm longing for

God, you know, I just can't see beyond the door

But in my mind's eye I can see a place

Where Your glory fills every empty space

All the cancer is gone

Every mouth is fed

And there's no one left in the orphans' bed

Every lonely heart finds their one true love

And there's no more goodbye

And no more not enough

And there's no more enemy

No more

Heaven is a sweet, maple syrup kiss

And a thousand other little things I miss with her gone

Heaven is the place where she takes my hand

And leads me to You

And we both run into Your arms

Oh God, I know, it's so much more than I can dream

It's far beyond anything I can conceive

So God, You know, I'm trusting You until I see

Heaven in the face of my little girl

Heaven in the face of my little girl

Through the song it showed pictures of her she was a definite daddy's girl is all he could say and she was to kind to everyone defiantly an Auradonian. He also noticed she loved even her enemies and she forgave easily. You can learn a lot about a girl in just a half hour.

After the funeral was over Jay had the perfect idea to get Evie to talk to him. He would just have to wait till tomorrow.
