"Daddy, I'm not ready. Can we go home?"
"Mo, it's your first day. We gotta make a good impression! Those teachers are gonna love you by the end of this year! Don't worry about it, you've got your father's charm."
"Okay Ian, that's not helping. But I have to admit, I am quite the charmer, aren't I?"
"Honey, don't worry about what anyone else thinks, except the teacher, because you could get into big trouble if you don't listen to the teacher. Just be you, make some friends, and have fun! Lex, Barry, and Allen are going to come soon."
"Hah. School isn't fun."
"You're not fun."
"Yeah, tell him Daddy."
"Humph."
"But Daddy, what if they're not in my class? What if no one wants to be my friend? What if the teachers are mean?"
"Mo, no what if's. You are the most independent five year old I've ever met. If they're mean to you, then ignore them. They're not worth your time."
"But don't fight them. Only kindness can heal hate."
"Wow. Did you bring a cheese stick?"
"Nope."
"Then you know the consequences."
"Eeeewwww. Do you guys have to?"
"Close your eyes and count to five, baby."
"I'm not stupid, but okay."
"Hey, language."
Elliot gives Ian a kiss, their 'consequence' for saying something cute and cheesy without bringing a cheese stick.
"Four, five."
"Good job, Mo!"
"Thanks. Are Lex, Allen, and Barry coming soon?"
"Auntie Valerie and Auntie Imogen told me that they're running late with Barry; he keeps dashing off, saying he doesn't want to go to school. But Uncle Lennon and Fitz are bringing Lex and Allen."
"Barry's always running off somewhere; it's silly. And just because of school?"
"That's right. See, that sounds silly right? Being afraid of school?"
"Yeah. It's just school, but Daddy?"
"Hm?"
"Can we just wait for a little longer? I wanna see Lex and Allen. We're planning to pull the fi - oh. I wasn't supposed to say that. You've heard nothing!"
"Of course, Mo."
"I love you guys. Don't forget me when I'm off to kindergarten!"
"Who's Mocha? I don't know who Mocha is. Hey Ellie, do you know who Mocha is?"
"Not a clue. Hey, isn't Mocha a type of coffee?"
"Hey!"
"We're kidding honey."
"Please don't hurt us Your Majesty."
"I appreciate your please, but your punishment has already been scheduled."
"Is that so Queen Mocha? What would that be?"
"If all goes according to plan, then you'll see."
It's 12:30, and Ian, Elliot, Imogen, Valerie, Fitzgerald, Lennon, Ella, and Nora are lounging about in Valerie and Lennon's penthouse, drinking freshly-brewed coffee made by Elliot. The phone rings.
"I'll get it, I'll get it."
"Hello, who is this?"
"Hello Mr. Springs; your children and a friend have just falsely pulled the fire alarm. We think that you and your wife should know. A conference will be held later this week."
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry; I'll pass this message on to Mr. and Mrs. Springs immediately. I'm their friend, Ian Durrell, and that's why I'm picking up their phone..."
"Uh huh. Durrell you say?"
"Yes sir."
"Your daughter was the friend."
Ian drops the phone.
"Oh my god."
