"Don't!" I cried out. He stopped the knife mere centimetres from my throat.
"Why?" He asked tauntingly, moving the blade against my throat, pushing gently on the skin. He looked at me as if he was a starving man and I was a snickers bar. I hesitated before answering, afraid if I moved my throat it would get sliced open.
"I'm not a wolf." I said calmly. He laughed
"Oh yeah? Well you have some explaining to do." He paused. "I'm waiting. I'll give you three seconds." He turned behind him to the person holding my feet "that sounds fair, right Gretal?"
"Yeah." Said an evil, snickering female voice.
"One."
Oh god. Was this guy for real?
"Two." He totally is.
"My name is Red Riding Hood, I got attacked by a delusional wolf. I'm changing. I'm going to my grandmas house to get a cure." I blurted out. I took a deep breath. He looked me up and down.
"Well Miss Riding Hood, I apologise." He climbed off of me. "Gretal. Get off of her."
"But-"
"No buts. We made a mistake. Look at her closely. She still has human features. Not much but some. She still has time." I felt the weight lift from my legs, and I jumped to my feet. I looked over my attackers. They were both around the same age, the young boys anger, and disgust in seeing me made him seem older, he looked about eleven now I could see him better. Same with the girl. She had long curly, untidy brown hair. She had a bow slung over her back and an arrow quiver. Her face was tough, hard, like she had grown up rough. She probably has.
"Hansel, she is a goner. She won't make it to the house in time. It's still a days walk from here."
"What do you mean on time?" I said to nobody in particular. They ignored me, continuing there conversation.
"I'm in charge. We are going to the house."
"Gretchid will probably just kill her on first sight anyway. If we couldn't see she was still human, how will she? The lady is as blind as a bat." How did they know my Grandmas name?
"Hey-" I began before I was interrupted.
"Not if we go up to her and warn her first. If the girl is who she claims she is, she is Gretchid's granddaughter."
"How do you know?" Gretal said placing angry hands on her hips.
"After she saved us from the witch in the gingerbread house, that was all she talked about. You never listen do you?"
"Stop talking about me like I'm not here!" I exploded. They looked at me wide eyed, obviously not expecting my sudden outburst of rage. My chest was heaving.
"Sorry. Where are my manners. My name is Hansel, this is my sister Gretal. We believe we know the woman you are talking about. We will help you find the motivation to get to her."
"I don't need motivation." I snapped "I'm fine on my own. Just the thought of turning into one of those disgusting things gives me motivation." They glanced at each other with looks of utter confusion "What?"
"Don't you know?" Gretal began, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world "Once you get to a certain part in the transformation, you won't want to change back. You will want to stay a wolf. Forever."
