3: Souless

Touka woke up from a relatively painless sleep compared to what she normally faced, the nightmares of her father and her brother. As she tried to lift her arms she noticed she was trapped against something with arms around hers and her stomach. She looked back quickly and saw Kaneki sleeping with a peaceful face, he looks cute, she thought. She blushed instantly at the thought and she wondered why she was even tolerating him holding her like this. She never would let anyone do this, let alone someone that she had just met for the second time.

She looked back when she heard a raspy mumble next to her ear.

"Please....don't....mother......stay alive...."

Touka frowned, parental figures dying tragically seemed to be a normality in a ghoul's life. One of Kaneki's eyes suddenly opened, in the ghoul transformation it was red and black, two tears of blood dripped from the corner of the open right eye. Kaneki, oblivious to the fact that he had Touka in his arms, moved his hands to his face trying to calm himself down.

Kaneki let his hands down after moment and immediately noticed a weight on his chest, he gazed down to see Touka's dark red face and he squeaked, he was going to die.

"Touka-chan I'm sorry, please don't kill me!" As Kaneki closed his eyes, prepared for the worst to come.

Touka elbowed him in the gut and Kaneki let out of moan as she hit him more strongly than he thought she could.

"Ow Touka-chan, so mean."

"That's what you get for being a perv, shitty Kaneki."

"A perv! You are the one who moved, needy bitch!" Kaneki retorted, instantly regretting what he said when he saw a fire in Touka's eyes light up, he was going to die.

"Bitch?! I'll really be a bitch if you want!" Touka yelled, face still red from the incident of her moving from the opposite side of the couch onto Kaneki's chest.

Yoshimura hummed quietly as sounds of grunts of pain and yells of an angry woman came from the space above him. He walked over to the stairs and spoke poudly to garner their attention.

"Touka-chan, try not to kill Kaneki if you can help it, I've taken a liking to him."

She nodded regretfully as she kicked Kaneki one more time, she had pushed him to the ground while punching him, she went to her room to change for her early shift in the cafe, laughing as she went.

She walked down and saw Kaneki chatting with Enji. The TV was on in the shop and it was the Tokyo news channel. A CCG spokesperson came onto the broadcast in panel, with the subtitles of, "1st Ward", underneath the square panel.

"Hello everyone, greetings from the 1st ward, today the CCG announced that the ghoul codenamed, "Mukade", has been promoted to "SS" rank. If anyone sees him please contact the local CCG in your ward, do not engage, this ghoul is known for being brutal and sadistic."

She walked to the counter to start her shift and did not notice Kaneki's small smirk when the CCG investigator announced the rank change. The sound of the TV broadcast was interrupted when a certain yellow haired man walked through the door, immediately setting his sights on the raven haired waitress.

"Hello beautiful" Flirted Hide.

Touka sweat-dropped at this, this guy can't take a clue, she had turned him down every day for the past couple weeks, he had courage, she would give him that.

"Hello Hide. You finished all of your finals yesterday right?" Asked Kaneki.

"Yea, I'm fucking FREE! Anyways, why are you here so early Kaneki"
