12: Discoveries

Chapter 12: Discoveries

"Ken, you're finally back, I have very important news." Kai sat down on one of the living room couches and gestured for Touka and Kaneki to join him. All of the Anteiku employees were present in the room, including Ayato.

"One of my agents planted in the CCG were told information that is vital to defeating Aogiri, the CCG are attacking a big Aogiri hideout in ten days' time. That gives us time to prepare, decide who wants to go, and what our plan would be. A show of hands, who wants to go?" Kai asked, not expecting more than a few to volunteer, he raised his own hand and scanned the room for more.

"Kai can we trust this information?" Asked Yoshimura carefully. Kai gave him a blank look and dismissed the thought with a wave of the hand, "Of course."

Kaneki, Touka, and Ayato raised their hands while the others stood in awkward silence. Kai nodded his head and said sternly, "Meeting dismissed." Followed by, "Man, I've always wanted to say that."

Everyone but Yoshimura and Kai left, Kai peered up at the old man and smirked. "Not attending, Kuzen? What a shame, I thought you did owe V several favors."

 

He stood up and patted the manager's shoulder while the man retained a stoic and unchanging face. Kai walked off to his bedroom to sleep, unaware of the consequences that would follow.

 

Kaneki, Touka, and Hinami were sitting at the café counter when several knocks were heard, Kaneki opened the door and a burly man with a swirly beard strode in as three smaller people folowed. He stopped walking and asked loudly, "Is the manager here?"

"No, he just left about five minutes ago. Why do you need him?" Kaneki responded, ready to act if this man was violent.

"What did you say?" Asked the man.

"If you have business I can bring out a cup of coffee." Touka interjected.

"Uhh... How about I just pass along a message to the manager, I was wondering if you had seen someone by the name of K-" The man gazed at the white haired ghoul and his eyes widened in surprise. "Kaneki! You had black hair the last time I saw you! You are the person I wanted to see! Aogiri took control of the 11th and I needed to talk to you."

Kaneki looked back in confusion until it finally clicked inside of his brain. "Are you one of the leaders that I met a while back?" A nod confirmed what he thought and the man continued.

"I came to warn you about Aogiri, they want the person with Rize inside of them, whoever Rize is, that's what I heard from a friendly higher up. I know you have those organs inside of you so... I came to warn you that someone will come to take you to Aogiri." Banjou shifted uncomfortably as Kaneki stared him down at the mention of Rize.

"And how do you know of Rize?" Demanded Kaneki, unamused that everyone seemingly knew his secrets.

"The Aogiri leader had been spreading this information for weeks, I was told of it when I was still the leader of my ward." Responded Banjou, now fearful that Kaneki would hurt him.

Touka, who had remained silent for the conversation, spoke up, suspicion clear in her voice.

"Why should we trust you, couldn't you be the one that is here to try to capture Kaneki?" At this one of the other three people snorted loudly, trying to contain their laughter. Kaneki smirked and took the opportunity to mock the man.
