7: Introduction to Math

One week later

A man dressed in black pants and plain white shirt strode in Anteiku, dark purple headphones atop his black hair, he sat down, absorbing the atmosphere. Kai looked around the café curiously, this was where the peaceful powerhouse of the 20th resided, helping other weak ghouls and serving coffee. Most ghouls would kill for the amount of power the old man had, yet he just used his strength and influence to create peace. That was something Kai respected greatly.

Kai waited for a couple minutes before he spotted a purple haired waitress walk over to him with an expression of annoyance on her face, though it quickly changed into a forced smile.

"Hello, welcome to Anteiku. What would you like to order today?" Asked Touka in a fake bright tone. It was just another guy that would most likely want her number, or other... services that were not included in the job of a waitress.

"Yeah, I would like a coffee made by Yoshimura-san, please, I come with a message." Kai smiled at Touka, whose expression changed to relief that he wasn't hitting on her.

"Okay... I'll get him, just wait here." Touka walked upstairs and came back less than a minute later with the manager in tow.

The manager made the coffee quickly and headed over to where Kai sat. He put down the coffee before Kai handed the manager a small piece of paper. Kai smiled widely when brought the coffee to his lips, the beverage was perfect. The manager promptly read the paper and smiled thinly.

"Let us take this somewhere more comfortable, and private. Come on upstairs."

Kai nodded and followed Yoshimura upstairs. Touka looked at them questioningly before resuming her work; she could get Nishiki to do her shift, since he owed her for doing something stupid in past week. She handed the sign-out sheet to a grumbling Nishiki before following the two men upstairs, who made it to Touka's living room, confusing her greatly.

"Let me call Yomi, Irimi and Komo so they can also hear this if you do not mind. And Touka-chan, do come out from the hallway, you can stay here until I tell you otherwise."

After of five minutes of Kai bobbing his head up and down to his music in complete silence the four adults entered.

Kai grinned and called out. "Yomo-san! Remember me?"

Yomo ditched his usual emotionless visage and shifted to an expression of bewilderment and surprise. "Kai, what are you doing here? I thought you died at Mado's hand two years ago!"

"Nah I got away, used a human corpse as my getaway, he was too injured to notice that it was not me. Anyways, I'm here because even though I'm now the right hand of the leader of V, I still do reconnaissance and spying for the boss. And I know you have a little bird named Ayato here. He has some info that I need on a group he is involved with."

Komo and Irimi looked at him questioningly. Being leaders of former gangs themselves, they were cautious of starting gang wars. "What gang are you looking for?" Questioned Komo, uncharacteristically serious.

"Don't tell me this old man didn't tell you? This is Aogiri tree, the biggest gang other than maybe the clowns or V. They have been underground, not involved much, but recently they have sprouted from the ground, hence the name I believe."

Touka stared at Kai before blurting out. "Who is your boss? No one should know about Ayato being here, unless..."

"Ahh Touka-chan, he has told me about you, I forced it out of him mind you, but I must say you are exactly as he described. I think you might know him; his name is Kaneki Ken." Kai smirked, though his smile changed to a small frown when Touka's face remained unchanged. Her mind was in complete turmoil, despite her calm face.
