Chapter 14- A New Chance

6 days before the Aogiri raid

"Is this what he has been doing these past few months?" Demanded the prisoner, eyes ablaze as his infamous temper was stoked.

"Yes, I have been trying to subtly change his mind, but to no avail, it seems like it's where he is finally happy."

The man scoffed, "Happy? That runt could tell what a good feeling is if it killed him, you know what comes first, make him see that. Or force him to, manipulate, hurt. It doesn't matter."

The visitor sighed and slid a file underneath the window pane, "You might want to look at this."

The prisoner's eyebrows raised as he chuckled softly, "You didn't tell me this brat, he's at old Kuzen's place huh? Probably stuffing his head with existential bullshit as we speak. I wonder if he knows Yoshimura and the real threat he poses as probably the strongest ghoul to ever live."

"I think he does, just to inform you as well, we defeated Jason a bit ago, Kaneki lost control again, that would make his third in about five months." The visitor informed hesitantly, he was not enjoying this meeting in the least.

"That cannot do." He chuckled and looked up into his informant's eyes, "Kai, do you know what they do with a sheepdog that cannot lead his sheep?"

The now identified Kai struggled to answer, he relented and looked his master dead in the eyes. "I will do everything that needs to be done, Sachi-sama." He got up from his chair and bowed, leaving the room in silence."

Sachi grinned as his eyes glinted, it seemed like the brat was finally getting a mind of his own, whether that was a bad thing or not, what came first was the gang, Yoshimura be damned, he would get Kaneki to comply.

Touka tapped her fingers against the bar counter endlessly as she supported her head with a hand leaning on the edge. It had been an uneventful day and proved beneficial to her as she would surely be a shaking and stuttering mess if she had to serve anyone. It had been four days ago when they were at the raid.

Who would have known that the deaths in her group were caused not by the people that actually sought to kill them, but themselves. Touka still couldn't wrap her head around what had occurred at the raid and she most definitely was not over anything that happened. She had been so shocked and mortified that she had not even questioned the manager when he had come drifting onto the rooftop, grabbing the limp corpses and jumping down after a quick, "Come with me Touka."

The more she thought about why Yoshimura was there the less she wanted to know, he was not as innocent as the old man looked, that was certain. She gazed up at the TV as breaking news of some country's referendum blazed across the screen, the time read 9:00 signalling the end of her shift for the night as she walked outside and turned the sign from open to closed.

It was a lonely night, Yoshimura, Koma, Irimi, and Yomo were all out doing something in secret, Nishiki was at home, Hinami was caring for Ayato, Kaneki was recovering, and Kai... She blinked her tears away and slammed her fist against the stair wall. She stomped up the stairway and went to her room to get ready to sleep, after exiting the shower she walked down the hallway to see Hinami.

She walked in to see Hinami's arms and head using Ayato's body as a pillow, she smiled softly before leaving the room. Ayato had sustained severe injuries with over sixty broken bones, uncountable bruises, and punctured organs. While it seemed like Kai had been losing that fight, he had delivered heavy damage to her younger brother.
