Chapter 14 - The Walk

"Emma?" Mary-Maragret was standing in the doorway.

Emma looked up, "Hey, mom." 

"How are you holding up?" She walked into the room.

"I'm alright, I guess... To be honest, I don't really know." 

Dr. Whale walked in. 

"Afternoon ladies!" Shaking Mary-Maragret's hand, "How are we doing today?"

"We are doing fantastic." 

Emma was thankful that her mother answered for her. 

"That's great!" He turned to Emma, "Addison, your nurse, will be in here in a bit with a chair, so that we can take you down, and get you checked out." 

"I'm capable of walking, thank you-"

"I know Miss Swan, but it is hospital protocol."

With much hesitation, Emma agreed.

"Great! I'll see you when you get back."

Whale left.

"Emma, honey? Are you sure you want to do this? You don't have to, if you don't want. There is always adoption-"

"MOM!"

"What? I just thought maybe-"

"Well, maybe you thought wrong! I'm not giving this one up. I made that mistake with Henry, and I regretted it for the longest time. And when I finally forgave myself, he was suddenly back in my life. I'm not going to put this baby through the torture I put Henry through!"

"Okay... I just wanted you to know that it's always an option."

They sat in silence for a couple minute before Addison came in with the wheelchair to take Emma down. Once she was adjusted, and she was wheeled out into the hall, she saw Killian. 

"Mom... Please make him go away."

Mary-Margaret walked over to him.

"Where in the bloody hell are they taking her?!"

"Killian, it's okay. They just want to run a few more tests. She'll be back in a while." 

"O-okay, I guess." 

"She wants me there. I need to go. Get some rest, please."

Mary-Maragret half jogged to catch up with Addison and Emma.

"Did you take care of it?" Emma asked, looking straight forward.

"Yeah, he's going to go and wait in your room." Mary-Maragret replied, short of breath.

They wheeled the rest of the way in silence.
