Late Nights (Rin Matsuoka x Reader)

You yawned for the umpteenth time that night. It was half past 2 in the morning and Rin still hasn't come home from work. He was a police officer, but he usually made it home by midnight. 

You feared the worst and was expecting the phone call that was going to announce Rin's death, but it never came. While crying silent tears, you fell asleep on the couch.

About an hour later, you heard keys unlock the front door. You tried to move, but you couldn't. You then hear the familiar yawn and groan of Rin and eased up a bit. You closed your eyes, pretending to sleep as you shuffled around on the couch. 

You heard Rin gasp a little and he turned on the lights. "(Y/N)....", he whispered. You remained in your "sleeping state". Rin sighed and took off his shoes before carrying you bridal style upstairs. He dressed you into your pajamas and undid your ponytail. 

He laid you on the bed and left the room to shower. You sat up in bed as you heard Rin turn on the shower.

15 minutes later, he got out, hair dripping wet. He walked into the room shirtless and walked to the dresser, his back facing you. You took this chance to sneak up behind him and give him a back hug. You wrapped your arms around his waist and leaned your head on his back. "You're still awake?", Rin turned to face you and gave you a proper hug. One of his arms were around your waist, the other around your shoulder blades.  You heard his strong heartbeat, "I was worried...You're usually home at midnight...", you whimpered, shivering lightly.

Rin's grip tightened, "I'm sorry for worrying you...We had a case that was really different from the others, we couldn't figure it out. I'll never do it again...", he mumbled in your ear. Your shoulders relaxed and you melted your body into Rin's. "Let's go to bed, yeah? Your eye bags are gonna get worse.", Rin dragged you to the bed and covered both of your bodies in the thick covers.

He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, "I love you..."

You held his hand, making it stay in its current place, "I love you, too."
