Chapter 4

I get to lunch and sit with Antonio, Tess and April. They had arrived before me and were laughing when I got there.

"What's so funny?" I ask, sitting on the table.

"Nothing..." The three answer at the same time.

Creepy much

"Do you really think I'm that stupid? Now tell me what the heck is going on" I tease, but still want them to tell me what they are laughing about.

"Okay! No need to be like that my little pumpkin! So, there is this rumor going on that you and Reece are dating and it's just hilarious!" Antonio explains and starts laughing even more than before.

"Antonio, don't be rude! Imagine Reece and Lexi dating! I actually think it's a new OTP!" April says with a girly voice.

"Wowowowow! You went to far with that April Laceup!" I tease again and take a french fry from her food.

"Hey! You can get mad at me, but nothing including my food." She says, hugging her burger and french fries, drawing a fake tear on her face.

"Stop the drama girls, too much for me. Lexi, you know that Reece is staring at you right now; he must have gotten the news." Tess tells me and moves her eyebrows up and down.

I head my direction to Reece's table and I, indeed, see him staring. What the hell does he want?! Hasn't he done enough?!

I realize I was staring too and blush, though he smirks and winks at my reaction.

"Uhm... Lexi. You sort of, maybe, just a tiny little bit look like a tomato, you know that right?" April says and starts giggling, though I just roll my eyes.

"I wasn't staring Ap! I was just checking if he was looking at me, which he was not!" I lie.

"Yea sure, because we didn't see that wink he sent you." She tells me and mimics Reece's wink, making me laugh.

"Uhmm... Lex. When was the last time you ate?" Antonio asks me.

"Umm... I ate breakfast..." I lie again.

Why am I lying so much?!

"Eat something, please." He begs me and I nod, going to the cafeteria lady and ask for mashed potatoes with some chicken. It looks gross though.

I sit at the table again and Antonio sighs.

When my mom died, I started to starve myself. I was so sad and thought it was my fault that she was dead, so I didn't eat. After a week, I fainted and entered a coma. I woke up two weeks later; I remember my dad was crying when I opened my eyes. I hoped that when I woke up, my mom would be there holding my hand; but she wasn't there. Only Zach and dad, who were sitting there, next to my bed. No talking, no laughing, just silent. Days later, I left the hospital and went home. My aunt came to visit me with my cousins; which made me really happy. I didn't go to school for another week. My dad wanted to see if I was eating; which I did. When I arrived to school, I remember that April and Tess were hugging me and crying. My dad told me that they would come every day to the hospital and bring me flowers or balloons. And when I woke up, Tess, Antonio and April would bring me chocolate and movies. Since then, they promised my dad they would see if I was eating or not.

We continue talking about the food in the cafeteria, and I keep playing with my food. I haven't eaten a bite, but no one really noticed.

I hear some loud steps behind me and look back, noticing Heather and her friends.

"What do you want Heather?" I ask, annoyed.

"Nothing! Just asking why you are eating, you look fat." She giggles and leaves.

I roll my eyes but push my food aside, getting hurt with her comment.

"Don't believe her, Lex! She is just jealous." Tess tells me, caressing my arm.

I nod and hear the bell ring.
