"I hate everything about you, why do I love you?"
I sat quietly, while running a comb through my hair. I was silently humming to Asking Alexandria's song, I Won't Give In. I slipped on my grey Muse sweater, and a pair of my worn-out Vans. I wasn't planning to go out with the girls, I just felt a sudden urge to drive up to the mall.
I grabbed my purse and got into my car. I started the car, and I drove in silence. At least no one knew that I left in my household, because they'd be beyond mad. I parked my car, and I heard grunts and loud thuds. From the corner of my eye, I saw Dan punching one of the school jocks; Theo Williams and Sage Harrington. My mouth gaped.
'You prick' Dan screamed, punching Sage in the eye. Sage fell hard on the floor as a small puddle of blood stained the concrete floor. 'Just you wait, Howell! We're going to ruin you!' cried out Theo. 'Hmm, try me' Dan snickered. 'That's the last straw, Howell!' Sage spat, hovering over Dan.
Sage aimed Dan in the eye, but Dan held a grip on his knuckles, and threw him on the floor savagely. Sage wiped the blood from his lips, and stood up, rising from the ground. The fight began to grew more intense by the minute, and someone eventually had to stop it.
That's when I decided to walk up. 'Stop!' I cried out to the three. 'Stay out of this, Y/N' growled Dan. 'Yeah' scowled Theo. Theo gripped on Dan's hair and bashed his head on the wall, causing him to grunt under his breath. I gasped. 'If you don't stop right now, I'll have to call the police!' my voice squeaked. Theo and Sage glared at Dan and glanced back to me.
'You're lucky your girlfriend's here, Howell. Because if it weren't for her, you'd be on your death bed right now' snarled Sage. The boys stepped away from the place. 'I didn't need you help' he grumbled, clutching on his stomach. 'B-b-but' I stammered. 'Go away, Y/N' he spat coldly.
I just couldn't leave him like this. The thing was, I care for people too much- no matter if they hated me for a reason. I helped lifted him up, and I felt Dan tried to wriggle out from my hold. A pang of hurt hit me on the chest. 'Dan, at least let me help you out' I said faintly.
'No, I hate you' He spat. His words were like venom to my ears. 'I know but why do you? You must have a reason, right? I'm sorry for anything I've done to you. Can I please held you out? You don't have to tell anyone about this.' I urged. He sighed in defeat. 'Fine' he answered groggily.
I gently sat him on the passenger seat, and I drove cautiously on the road. My phone was connected to my car, so I played my music. It landed on 'Someone, Somewhere' by Asking Alexandria. I knew by heart he wouldn't listen to my music. He turned the music off, and crossed his arms. 'No' he said bluntly. 'Okay..' I whispered.
The car was filled with the smell of his cologne. Noah and mom were at a conference, so they wouldn't be back by eight- at least. I motioned him to my bedroom while I pulled out my first-aid kit out from the bottom of my bed. 'Why do you keep a first-aid kit under your bed?' Dan asked me.
I shrugged. 'I don't know, in case of emergencies maybe?' I said in a questioning tone. 'Whatever' he muttered. I sat at the corner of my bed. 'Where does it hurt?' I asked him, opening my kit. He didn't answer me. I looked up to see his head stained with dried-up blood. 'Wait' I told him, while grabbing cloth and and a bowl of lukewarm water.
I placed the cloth in the water, and dabbed the cloth on his cut. He instantly flinched and winced from the pain. 'Sorry!' my voice squeaked. I gently and warily cleaned his cut. I looked down and his stomach and saw a bruise. 'Can you um... take off your shirt?' I asked shyly.
He rose his brow up. 'And why would I do that?' he said defensively. 'You have bruises swelling up there' I told him. He cursed under breath and tugged the hem of his black shirt and lifted it up. I recover myself from blushing and pulled out ointment from the kit box.
'This will sting a bit, I'm sorry if I hurt you' I told him cautiously. He just looked at me with a stern look. 'Why are you apologising?' He asked softly. It felt weird talking to him. Especially like this. I rubbed my fingers that were coated with ointment in circular motion around his purple bruise.
His muscle tensed up. 'Because of that' I said softly. 'Y/N...' his voice trailed off. 'Tell me honestly, if I've ever hurt you' he said rather-gently. I stood there in silence. 'Well,' I sighed, 'Like what my mom always says, don't hate the hater- they are all human' I told the wounded boy. He chuckled lightly. Never in my five years dispute with Dan, did I ever hear him laugh because of me.
After I finished, I sealed a plaster over a cut above his left brow. 'J-just be careful next time. You're badly injured' I told my bully, avoiding eye contact with him. I will pretend like this never happened, because the next day, he'd bully me again.
'I can't take this any more!' Dan shouted. I jumped a little bit. He cupped my cheeks, and inched himself close to me. He pressed his lips against mines, and it was really gentle. His lips were soft, and he wasn't wearing a shirt. 'No, Y/N. This man bullied you and made your life hell' I thought to myself.
I pulled myself away from him and slapped him across the face. Tears were threatening to spill out from my eyes. 'What the fuck, Daniel!' I screamed shoving his chest. 'How dare you?' I asked.
'I- I'm sorry' He stammered. He slipped his shirt on. 'Y/N...' He called out my name sternly. 'Get out Dan' I demanded. 'Wait-'.
'I said go! For fucks sake!' I screamed. He soon left in no time.
'Did I enjoy the kiss?' I thought to myself. Why was the kiss causing butterflies to erupt from my stomach? You can't do this, Y/N. He was a prick to you. I was fighting my own thoughts.
Maybe I hated him, but fell in love with the feeling. It caused me to grow mixed emotions.
