"GOAL!" Bobby stood up to celebrate yet another goal on Fifa. I sucked at those type of games, and he was really good at it, so somehow, after a bit less than half of the match (Portugal vs. Real Madrid- I was Real Madrid) , I was losing 7:0.

My mom walked in on us as Bobby was dancing his victory dance , butt wiggling in my direction.

I was disgusted, to say the least.

"Shay!" she scowled, "I thought I sent you off to buy a Halloween costume!"

"Yeah, but I was lazy and Bobby offered to play," I told her, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear. I looked at her with big wide eyes, trying to seem innocent. She wasn't buying it.

"Shay, get the hell out of the house and go buy something for Halloween!" she ordered, giving me five hundred dollars.

Okay then.

And so I took off, with much more money than needed, to find something to do for a few hours since I am not into buying costumes for quite a few years now.

All of a sudden, I found myself in front of a Pet Shelter. I stared for a moment, before stepping in, a huge smile on my lips.

I really wondered if they'd even let me adopt; I turned 18 just a few weeks earlier, and they usually want someone older who is living in a permanent residence.

But I soon found myself in love with Kurt, a 11 years old Mastiff Pitbull mix who had a very soft spot to anyone who is willing to scratch his tummy.

It was funny how easily you can fall in love with a creature as pure as a dog, and how hard it is to find love in humans. It was weird how you can love so easily things so different from you, like a view, or a pet, and how hard it was to love people around you.

"Would you like to adopt him?" a dark blond man asked me, crouching next to me.

"I'm just 18, do you allow me to?" I asked, looking at him with puppy eyes, making him smile, dimples hidden behind his five o'clock shadow.

"Kurt here will be dead in two days if you don't get him out of this cage," he confessed, "if you give him back in three days, I'll be okay with it, since they won't kill him. Kurt deserves the world; he is a real sweetheart."

"I can see that," I scratched behind his ear, making him close his eyes. The man next to me looked me over.

"You don't seem like the type to abuse animals, and you live somewhere you're allowed to keep pets?"

"Yeah, my family loves pets."

"That's great," he nodded, "Well, it might come off reckless, but are you up for signing adoption papers now or...?"

"Just one question," I asked, "how much is the adoption fee?"

"Four fifty eight," he replied, "is that a problem? The adoption fee includes--" Kurt let out a whiny voice, scratching my hand so I'd go back to petting his stomach.

"Okay," I laughed, "where do I sign?"

"WAKE UP!" Dad screamed, waking me up. As well as Kurt. He jerked up, and a bark started to build up in his throat.

"Shhhh, Kurt," I tried, patting his head in attempt to relax him. He started barking. "Bloody hell."

"What was that?" Mom asked as she opened the door. "Oh." her mouth shaped an O. "Bobby, Ron, you should come here!"

Ten seconds later, dad was staring at me in amazement, Bobby looked like a mess that didn't mind all too much (he looked like he didn't even realize Kurt is a dog) and Mom was patting Kurt along with me after he decided she was all good.
