"Soojung, where are you going? It's almost time for dinner." Mrs. Jung hollers to her younger daughter as she stirs the rice in the pan. Still paying attention to the food, she clinks the spoon on the side of the pan two times and sets it down onto a plate.
"Mom, I have to go study with Soonyoung-unnie. I'll be back before 10." The daughter lies straight into her mother's face with barely any sincerity. It's true that she's only planning to be gone until 10, but Soojung wants to go on an adventure. A badass adventure.
Mrs. Jung turns up the fire to 'High' and flips the pan, sending the rice flying into the air like acrobats. "Oh... alright. Have fun, I guess."
Soojung plants a kiss on her mom's pale cheek. "Thanks, Mom, you're the best~" she whispers and grabs her ''backpack''. Hauling it over her shoulder with a groan to convince her mom that it's heavy with "books", she runs into the living room.
"Mom, tell Sooyeon-unnie and dad that I'm going out for a bit!" Her mouth pants the words out like a river. Smooth, but rocky at certain parts.
She opens the door as she says farewell to her mother and looks up at the sky. For a fall night at 6:49, it's fairly dark outside; the night sky is as navy blue as the deepest parts of an ocean with stars glistening ever few millimeters.
"Today... I'm going to go on a crazy adventure." Soojung breathes and jumps over the 4 steps that lead to the actual pathway. The fresh air of fall has always lifted her spirits; the light smell of, who knows what, travels into her nostrils and 'awakens' her brain. It's basically like drugs, but in a better way.
Soojung stops walking and pulls out her phone. Pulling up google maps, she looks at her current location: Hyesan, South Korea. A small area located right on the border of North and South Korea.
Her eyes move with her fingers as she types the words 'North Korean border'. Her eyes widen as she finds what she wants; it's only 1.1 km (0.68 miles) away.
"Let's see what type of trouble I get myself into today." She smirks and begins to run towards one of her most-dreamt destinies.
