Melissa's POV

"Is everything okay? I've noticed you a bit distracted this past few weeks." Alex states handing me a pile of fresh written manuscripts.

Is everything okay? Sure. Everything is just fine.

I'm more than focused on my work now. Well, sort of. I have read more manuscripts in one week than I thought to be humanaly possible, and I've been spending the majority of my time with Alex. He's been giving me some piece of advice on writing which I really enjoy. And I find Alex to be much more sociable and kind than I wondered. I enjoy his company and it keeps me distracted.

But all this work hasn't erased anything.

"Yes, just a bit tired that's all." Tired is my excuse for everything. Going out on the weekends with the rest of the guys and hanging around on lunch time, shopping with Sophia and accepting Niall's requests to go on multiple dates. It all just takes a little lie about being tired to brush everything off.

"You've been working to much." Alex concludes, with concern.."Why don't you just take some days off?"

"No, I'm good thank you." I can't be without working. Working is the only thing that distracts me from thinking.Thinking about him.

"But I want you to. Besides, if you take some days off now, you'll be fully rested for something I might have to offer you when you get back." Alex huge grin appears, making is face look familiar to me.

"Something to offer me?" I can't contain my curiosity.

He laughs, a strong laugh. "I really like you, Mia and you're one of the best workers on this company. More than deserved, take a week for yourself and then we'll discuss this offer. But don't tell everybody. I can't afford having everyone out for a week." He adds, his eyes friendly and welcoming.

When I leave Alex's office, I take a deep breath. I still have a handful of manuscripsts to read today, at least. Then, I'll have one week of break. I need to start planning it or I'll be stuck on thinking about things I shouldn't.

By the end of the afternoon, I have everything read and done and handed to Alex. Again, he tells me to enjoy this few days, to rest and perhaps start writing on a daily basics. I've started to write a few poems and Alex was surprised when I shown them, and said they have quality and above all, passion. It's not something to be continued or anything but for now, it keeps me occupied.

I gather my things and head to the elevator. Normally I would go to Sophia's office and leave with her, but she's been with Liam 24/7 and I don't want to ruin any plans they might have. So I'll go home, maybe watch a movie or something and sleep. Sleep is the best thing to do, when you have no idea of what to do.

Outside, I wait for a cab. His car is still here which indicates he's still working. I came early so it's more than natural.

"Melissa." I turn around hearing my name from Amy's mouth, bouncing her hair back and forth walking in my direction.

As she walks, I can't stop imagining Harry and her, their mouths glued together, his hands all over her body, his body over hers like it was over mine. My eyes have not seen any of those images but in my mind they are so vivid, like I was there the whole time.

I've been avoiding Harry as much as I can, basically never leaving my office during the day. I've seen him a couple of times hanging with Zayn, but he hasn't seen me. I suppose I was not that important.

"You look pretty today." Her voice appears soft and gentle but I can feel venom deep inside.

"Thank you."

"Going home now?" I really don't get this conversation.

"Yes why?"

She smirks. "Just wondering if you were getting a ride from Harry. I mean, you guys live basically together."

Now I see the point of the conversation. Harry.

"Well his car is still here and I don't usually get a ride from someone I don't know." I do know him though. Too well to admit.

"Yeah that's probably the best you do." Her voice is still soft but the ice is right there.

"Anything else?" I see a cab arriving but soon someone will enter.

"Do you hang out to Harry's?" I can tell she's giving me some major shade. She wants Harry, all for herself. She just can't comprehend that Harry belongs to no one.

"No, Amy. I have my own house, my own space, my own life. He lives in the same building but it doesn't mean anything."

She laughs. "That's what I think to. Everyone has their own space, their own life. I just want you to take care of what's yours. Take good and extra care of your space and I'll take of mine."

"I already do. Goodbye." I wave her off.

"Have the rest of a good day at home." She goes on the opposite direction.

I have goosebumps from this conversation. The point was to tell me to leave Harry alone and by alone she meant for herself. But the tension was so palpable that I have my entire body shaking.

I ended up be stucked in traffic as always. The time I leave early from work was taken off by that weird talk with Amy. So, my cab made the usual 15 minutes stop in traffic.

I walk the stairs to the second floor. My phone is buzzing in my bag and it's my mom, but I reach for the keys and the ringing stops. I'll call her in a minute.

But when I take the time to look at my door, I see it's already opened.

And what's inside, it's not my appartment.

The living room is all trashed to the ground. The tv scared in tiny pieces, the glassed table broken. All the dishes are on the ground as well, the fridge door on one end of the living room. Everything is broken, in a pile of remains.

I start crying. We were assaulted.

I run for the drawer where Sophia and I normally put our money to pay the bills. It's still there. All the money is there. I look at the kitchen counter and Sophia's laptop is there too.

We weren't assaulted. This is vandalism.

"Melissa." A arm pulls me around so I facing him. He must have arrived now from work.

"What happened in here? Are you okay?" Harry's hands reach my face and I get myself inside his arms, crying out loud.

"Talk to me, are you okay?"

I can't believe this is happening. "I'm okay. I just arrived here and everything's broken. I don't understand."

"Did they take anything?"

"I don't think so. The money is there and Sophia's laptop it's in the same place. I need to check out both bedrooms as well."

Harry follows me to Sophia's room. And it's intact, not a single object was moved or stolen.

"What do you think happened?"

"I don't know. The most expensive think we have here is the TV and you saw how they left it." My head tries to make sense of all of this.

"Who do you think could have done this?"

It's when I open my bedroom door that it all makes sense.

"Oh my good."

My room is dead. From the ceiling to the floor. The walls scratched and rutted. The bed upside down. All my clothes ripped and dirty.

I crouch to pick up the photo of my mother and I, when I was little. Her smile is intact at least. But the photo is cut in half.

I know exactly what happened.

I didn't take care of my stuff. I didn't take care of my space.
