Chapter Seven

It took a while before we arrived downtown, since the hospital was at towards the mountain, its not so easy to get around. Driving down main street of this city was so depressing, it being practically a ghost town, it was almost rare to find a trace of human existence since the Apocalypse happened. windows in stores were broken to bits and some stuff were taken. My mind was diffidently in deep thought, so much happened that day that I can't forget it. That was the day I lost someone that I loved so much.....and he was gone in the blink of an eye.

The car is still driving and I can feel my head resting on something. It was Josh, he was letting me rest on him. I pull away and start to put my hair in a braid to make it seem less awkward then it already was.

" Hey look who finally woke up." Josh smiles at me and I almost blush.

Gale glances from the road and smiles too. Great, if I look to either side it could end bad.

Driving up the hill I see a really tall building that said shop N' center. Gale and Josh look where I'm looking.

" Well were here! com'on we Erin!"

Gale tugs at my arm and pulls me out of the truck quickly towards the doors to JCpenny. I glance at him weird considering that he was too excited....that scared me. Without thinking I accidentally trip on the curb of the sidewalk which caused me to fall into gale's arms.

" Erin! You okay?"

Everything was spinning around me, my heart was pounding against my chest from being nervous so in a shy tone I say, " yeah....i'm fine...." All gale did was smile and slowly walk next to me.

It was finally starting to feel normal until Josh ran up to Gale and I and forced his way in between us....just like a kid would do....figures. Standing in front of the door there was locks on it because of what happened not to long ago, smart for protecting they're merchandise but no one stayed so it's considered a waste really.

" Awe! the doors locked shut.... there's no way we'll get in now.." Zayba wines.

All Gale did was smirk and he got into a certain stance, then kicked the wall. It looked as if nothing happened for a moment but when I touched the chain it all disappeared into dust. All three of us are jaw dropped from shock.

Josh leans into Zayba whispering," Did he just seriously kick that?" he points at the door.

Zayba can't seem to find words to speak so she simply nods slowly. Gale looks at the rest of us and with a big grin, " com'on! are you guys coming?"

I close my mouth and simply follow not saying a word. It was really quiet until we made it to the formal dress section. On the outside of course I looked at it with disgust but on the inside...I was jumping like any teenage girl would. Quickly Gale starts to pick out some dresses that looked good....and some that were questionable on his part.

He shoves the clothes at me. " Go try these on, come out so I can make sure it looks good enough for their presence."

I roll my eyes. " Yeah, yeah. Sometimes you really are a pain....."

I walk straight into the dressing rooms and throw the dresses on the floor and begin to undress. Gale looks at Zayba and Josh as if scanning them.

"Zayba, take your brother to the mens' section and find something nice and decent for him to wear okay." Gale points at Josh as he says it.

" Sure thing Gale." Zayba grabs Josh and walks towards the men's section and all Josh could do was scorn at Gale as he waved goodbye mockingly.

I sat down on the floor looking at the dresses that Gale pulled for me...some of them looked really slutty but then others looked decent and formal....temptation crawled all over me and I finally picked up a dress and began to slip into it.
