Chapter Fifteen

Everyone's sitting around the table except for Zayba. Of course she would still be furious with me but I still don't understand her sometime's.  I smile and act happy but my true feelings are showing quickly so I try to hide it by drinking a lot of wine that my parents sat out for us. We all talked about our childhoods and even hearing about Josh's made me smile because he sounded like such a mischievous boy which made me want to get to know more about him. So after dinner I escorted Josh outside to the rose garden to talk personally.....its been a while since it was only him and I. Of course Gale was super jealous but he knew that I would be okay with Josh.

Upstairs Zayba sits sulking in her room alone, its dark except for the moonlight that shines through the french door windows. All she can think about is her mom and anger controls her thoughts.....sadness takes over her and all she can do is feel sorry.

" Why did she have to leave? it wasn't fair to either of us....." she starts to cry.

Holding a picture up to view it shows her and her mom with Josh and his dad..........Their father died when they were about twelve and thirteen years old.....We took it hard but time went on and then things around the world started to go wrong. Vampire's started to show up more and started to kill people more and soon it was so bad that they were forced to leave their estate. Of course her mother thought she could fight back because she didn't want to leave but her mother wouldn't listen to Zayba's concern.

Zayba holds a pillow tight to her chest then pressuring her head, she starts to hear the voice of a man.... " Oh poor, poor Zayba......all alone....sadness and dispair deprives you...."

Zayba closes her eyes and tightens her fists, chucking the pillow as hard as she could.

" SHUT UP, SHUT UP!" she shouted. The pillow hits a figure in the shadows.

" Good arm, though I would expect that from...my own daughter...."  A man dressed in a black suit comes out of the shadows and into the light. Zayba stares breathless.....pinching herself and watching the figure walk around touching things.

" Yes.....believe it! it's your Father........pumpkin, come to your father...." he stands in front of the fireplace and smiles sweetly, arms opened wide.

Zayba stands up and slowly walks towards the figure...." Father? i-is it really you?"

The man nods and Zayba starts to tear up again, running towards the figure they both embrace. He starts to pet her hair.

" My child why are you so upset?"

Zayba leans in closer to the figure. " It's mother.....she's done something awful and now i'm all alone...." she looks up into the man's eyes," Father....no one understands my pain....they don't understand how I truly feel." 

The man hushes Zayba and holds her close. " My child come with me! I'll take you away with me and we can be happy....just you and I...."

Zayba stares at the door then at the man. " Oh Father! take me away, take me away!"

Doors fly open, both start to walk out on the terrace as the picture Zayba held is laying on the floor.....they both disappear instantly and now the room is dead silent.

Josh and I walk across the lawn looking up at the sky, I glance over at him to see he's doing the same thing so he looks away quickly blushing. I can't help but do the same. For a moment it felt nice to talk to someone who was normal.....

" Josh......do you remember when we were staying at the mall..."

He nods." Yeah. Quite stuffy...."

I stop him so he can look at me...." What I'm trying to say is.....where you jealous because I gave Gale a thank you card and Not you one?"

He stares at me with a raised eyebrow....rubbing the back of his neck . " If I tell you will you cut me some slack?"

I put my hands on my hips. " I can't promise anything."

He scoughs. " Ha.......well I guess I was...just a little bit jealous...."  He starts to blush a little more.

 I giggle which makes him confused. " What's so funny?"

I smile. " You.... but I guess I should say that I have had.....some feelings for you.....to admit-"

He stops me and pulls me close. " Your serious? swear on your life that your telling me what I think your telling me?"

I start to blush. His eyes look so dark and full. " I don't know if I can promise....because truth is I like you! ever since you saved my life.....I've fallen for you......but it's not just you either."

His smile disappears and a frown starts to form on his face. " What do you mean not just me?........please don't tell me it's Gale!"

I looks into my eyes and I stare at the ground a little embarrassed. " Well, yes."  He sighs outloud. " But you both are special to me....and I don't know how i'm going to choose!"

I sit down slowly looking into the water, Josh exhales and walks to me sitting down also. " Well, I don't want you to stress over this......But if it were my choice I would say to hell with Gale and pick me.....but I guess it would be funny to be in love with a human...." He stares up at the moon and smiles sadly.

" Josh.....I want to choose you! but....my parents expect me to do another...... do you understand?" I touch his hand and he looks up at me with a soft smile.

" Then at least let me do something that I've wanted to do since the hospital....." Josh puts his hand in the middle of my back and I start to lean in as he does to slowly I close my eyes as he does the same our lips almost meet....I can feel his breath.....Suddenly Gale come's sprinting to us yelling for our attention.

I pull away and I can hear Josh swear under his breath. Gale reaches us breathing hard and stares at us with wide eyes. I stand up quickly, " Gale! what's wrong?"

He stares at Josh with wide eyes. " It's Zayba. I sent a maid to serve her food....she came back telling me she wasn't in her room," Josh stands up and walks to Gale. " I went to go and see for myself and its true she isn't there....it's like she vanished into thin air.....and all I found was this..." Gale pulls out the picture that Zayba had, Josh grabs it and starts to feel week. We all run back to the castle and my parents come to me. Loor touches my hands.

" Erin.....Our men has tracked down the sent of the cooperate.....it smells vial and more or less like black magic."

I glance at the two of them confused...." what? I-I don't understand.....what do you mean?"

Gale turns me around to face him. " It means that Lucifer was here......Erin.....Lucifer has Zayba."

Josh turns white....." m-my sister.......Zayba.....Zayba..." Josh starts to fall backwards until Gale catches him.

I glare at my parents. " I will not let him sit in his pedestal while he ruins my life and hurt the people I love! Father you have to get some of your strongest men and get anything to kill vampires with......he's not going to get away with this!"

Cullen runs down the hall and out towards the hidout where Lucifer is. He has to warn him. Gale sets down Josh and grabs me by the shoulders tightly.

" Erin! You can't just barge into his hideout and kill him! he's a person he's-"

" From all that you've told me he's nothing of a person! he the two people that I cared about most and he almost killed me! I will not rest until I see him go to hell!" I turn and walk towards the room that holds most of the weapons and maps. Josh hobbles along with one of the servants assistance.

" But you don't understand what your going to face! your not fully equipped to fight him Erin!" Gale runs after me while my parents gather men.

If Lucifer want's a war....he's going to have one that he will never forget!
