Chapter Sixteen

I know that Lucifer said he would come back for me.....but why would he take Zayba? the thought still jostles in my mind, but I have to focus on what to do next. With all my power he will pay for what he's done.

 Ten other people and I  gather around a table looking at the blueprints of his hideout that one of our spies were able to grasp. I stare intently and I point in a certain spot. " There!" they all glance up at me still confused. I role my eyes and point at the obvious spot.

" It's right there!.....if we gather the right tools then somehow we can defeat him while lessening the victim scale."

Gale nods in agreement. Rubbing his chin he looks at the list I prepared for us to who is attacking who.

Pointing at the list. " Wait.....why are you fighting Lucifer? He is....I mean was my brother and I think that I-"

I hold my hand up. " Let me remind you that he's after me.....I want to challenge him and besides I need you to help Josh find Zayba!"

He rubs his head confused. " Well, I guess your right but.....I still fear for you! what if your not as strong as you think you are?"

I stop speaking to the others and turn to glance in his eyes. He knows that I've considered the circumstances as to if that were to happen. And nothing and no one can change my mind. When everything is finalized I and my troop heads out to his hideout.

Lucifer comes out of form but in Zayba's eyes its her father that had passed on. He sits on the couch in his lounge area holding her close, stroking her hair slowly. Cullen comes sprinting into the room as fast as he could, catching a breath he walks up to Lucifer.

" Lucifer! we've got trouble!" he says wide eyed.

He sits up and his smile dissipates into a fatigue smile. " What seems to have you be so troublesome? could it be that were not getting enough blood out of those wretched humans and towns people here?" Lucifer starts to laugh.

" I'm serious! they found out that the girl is missing and now Erin is coming here with her backup to come and get her!"

Lucifer starts to smile bigger. Cullen walks quickly to Lucifer and grabs him by the shirt, " Don't smile at such a time! if we don't do something everyone here could die! even you for that matter because she seems angry and her full strength is getting closer to completion!"

Lucifer walks back and fourth slowly, his hand going through his hair. " Yes. As you may be right on that....." he stops in place and looks at Cullen. "You are wrong as to me dying. You see......Erin wouldn't kill an old childhood friend unless if I provoke her to do so......She is mearly putty in my hands."

Cullen sits down and stares at the ground. "If they find out the truth,I'm excommunicated.....banished for good!" He glares up at Lucifer. " Don't you realize how much of an effect this has on me?!"

Lucifer turns around to face Cullen....." Frankly my friend.....I am the puppeteer and you are just my puppet,You are of no use for me so go ahead and side with them to save your precious honor.....but how can you betray me when you've betrayed your family......your cousin too many times? I don't think they'll be  welcoming you with open arms after they hear the truth."

Cullen grits his teeth but keeps his mouth shut. Of course he can hold that against him but he was so young at the time he had no idea what he was doing....except to help his family by doing dirty deeds. Now all they can do is sit and wait for them to come....expecting to shed blood but to also admit to the truth that haunts the souls of many.
