If only you knew

Chapter Seven

Aletta wanted to stay and she didn't know what to do. She looked at her closet and saw the dresses that were sent to her. She figured it wouldn't hurt to try some on. So she tried on some of them and Xavier saw her from the window, and went down to the yard. She saw him go down and she went down to see him.

He looked at her and said she looked very beautiful. Aletta said thanks and she wanted to know why he wanted to talk. He said he wanted to ask her about her leaving.

She asked what he wanted to know. He said "I don't understand how you can even put on the dress, when we both know where it's going to get us." She said "I was just looking at them." He said she will look at them and it will make her want to go, and have things like this for the rest of her life. She said that is crazy because he should know she is different than that. He said he knows and it's just seeing her in the dress made him realize that she was the one going forward, and he would be left behind. She asked what he meant.

He said " you're the one moving forward, but I'll still be here wishing you were here too."

She said "It's great that you are going to miss me, but I would rather just be with you."

He said "Of course I will miss you when you are gone."

She said "I will miss you too."

He asked why she was supposed to leave. She said it was the family she was in; it was tradition to rule at fifteen. He asked why she can't break tradition. She said her parents would be really mad. He said they should listen to what she wants. She said that would be nice but it is not going to happen. He said he saw no reason why it couldn't happen. Aletta asked why he was asking so many questions about this. He said he was really curious about what would happen after she left. She said he had nothing to worry about.

He wanted to go with her so bad. He thought she had to go and be what she was going to be for the rest of her life. He didn't want to pull her down from her opportunity. So he thought he should go with her instead of her staying here, she had more for her than he does.

She didn't know he wanted this instead, so she didn't realize he was willing to give up anything for her. She thought that he was just someone to talk to and who understood her, and listened to her, and was being nice to her. She didn't know he loved her. She had no clue how he felt she didn't even know that he thought about her every day and night. She didn't know he wanted to be with her forever.

She wished she could do something about this. What could she do, her life has been picked out for her since before she was born. She can't change a single thing. What could she do if she left; she would never see him again. How could she do anything knowing that somewhere there is someone that understands her, and wants her, and she left him?
