It was time for Aletta to go. She was packed and ready to walk out the door. She went to say goodbye to Xavier and she couldn't find him. She looked for him and she ran out of time she had to leave, and she left without saying goodbye. But she knew she would come back eventually, she could say she was visiting her aunt.
She was on the train ride and she couldn't stop thinking about how he wasn't there, she was so used to talking to him, that she felt like there was a piece missing from her.
She finally got there and she got everything set up and she got settled in. She didn't know what to do she had never done anything pertaining to ruling the country.
She walked downstairs she couldn't believe how big her house was. A young lady greeted her. She must have worked in the house she wore worn clothes almost rag like. She said she is supposed to pick out a dress for a ball to welcome the country's new ruler.
Aletta was brought to a big room full of many dresses of all colors the young lady said we weren't sure what you would like. Without another word the lady stood there and looked around then left. Aletta had looked, for hours barely making a dent in the racks of dresses. She wondered if she would ever find one.
She had an idea she gathered a few that she liked and started taking them piece by piece and sewing them into one beautiful dress. None in the whole room compared to this one, not one dress like it in the whole country. She worked and got more and more until it was perfect.
This dress was a deep teal, rosy pink, sea blue, and light purple with many jewels.
It was time for the ball. Aletta walked in and everyone stopped what they were doing and watched her as she came down the stairs. No one had seen anything like it. She went into the crowd everyone watching, and staring at how beautiful she was, and asking her where she got it. She was amazed at how everyone liked it. She danced all night and then when it was over she went back to her room.
She sat on her bed and looked out the window, wanting to tell Xavier all about it, but he wasn't there. It was different not seeing Xavier's house out the window, with no one to talk to she laid down on her bed. She must have fallen asleep because she woke up and it was morning.
She walked downstairs and she saw the biggest breakfast she'd ever seen, nothing like what she had made for Wence and Shanna. She ate her breakfast and then went to work on learning about the country.
After a few months she got the hang of running the country, but she still had a lot more to learn. She was working as if she had done it for years. She was working and she did everything the best she could and everything ran smoothly. Before she knew it she was there for months, then it had been a year, and she still missed Xavier, but it was a little more back to normal.
Then she realized it wasn't so bad to leave. She started to miss her old town, and Xavier, and Wence, and Shanna. She tried to think of some way to see them again.
Finally she thought that she would ask if she could visit her old town every once and a while. She had visited before but not for a long stay. At first her parents thought that it was a bad idea, there would be no one to run the country while she was gone.
Aletta had thought for a minute then said they could do it. Her parents were confused. Aletta said they would have a chance to run the country, just like before. Plus she lied a little and said that running the country full time was a lot weight on her shoulders, and if she got overwhelmed then she might make bad choices and mess something up.
Her parents, after discussing it thought that it was a good idea, plus they always did like running the country. Aletta was so excited, that she went to her room and started packing a bag.
