Chapter Twenty

The next day Aletta told Xavier everything that happened. Xavier asked if she really said all that. Aletta nodded, and even though this was serious, they both started to laugh. Aletta and him just looked at each other for a moment.

Aletta said that they will still find a way to be together. Xavier said that maybe this was too much. Aletta looked at him, and asked why he thought that. Xavier said he had to convince his parents to come here, and now her parents are mad at her.

Aletta said that she could explain it to them, and change their minds. Xavier said that she could try. Aletta said if she couldn't, then she still wasn't letting him go, for anything. Xavier said that he doesn't want to let her go but, and Aletta interrupted and said he won't have to let her go. Xavier smiled and said I hope not, because if I let you go then it will be the worst thing anyone can do. Aletta smiled too, and said her parents just needed to meet him.

She walked out of her room and saw her dad. Aletta said that she wants them to like him so... he interrupted and said he already likes him. Aletta was shocked and said that she didn't understand. He said that it was her mother that didn't like Xavier, not him. Aletta asked why he liked him, and her mother didn't. He said "if he is good enough for my not so little girl, then he is good enough for me. Aletta smiled, and went back in her room.

Xavier said "that was fast." Aletta said her dad was ok with it, and went back out. Aletta saw her mother downstairs. Aletta said that she wanted her to get to know Xavier, so she would like him. Aletta's mother said she wasn't guaranteed to like him. Aletta said she would like him, if she got to know him. Her mother said she wasn't going to promise anything, but before she could say anymore Aletta hugged her said thank you excitedly, and ran out.

Aletta told Xavier that her mother agreed to talk to him. They were both excited, and started to talk about it. Xavier asked Aletta what he should say, and what he should do, but Aletta interrupted, and said to just be himself, that is what they are trying to get them to like. Xavier said "ok, but can I still know a little about her, so I can be prepared." Aletta said ok.

Xavier came in and Aletta asked how it went, and Xavier said "it went pretty well, actually." Aletta asked if she approved yet. Xavier said he didn't know for sure yet. Aletta paused and then walked out.

She went down stairs and found her mother. Aletta asked her what she thought of him. Her mother said Xavier was a nice gentleman, and she started to like him. Aletta said that was great, and they could be together. Her mother chuckled, and then said "we'll see." Aletta went up stairs, and told Xavier "we can finally be together." Xavier asked if she said yes. Aletta said "not exactly, but you're definitely in the green now. Xavier asked what they should do to make her like him more. Aletta said, for now it is good, and they don't want to mess it up somehow. Xavier agreed.

The next day Aletta walked down stairs with Xavier for breakfast. While they were eating, her mother came down. Aletta said good morning to her. Xavier stood up and said hello. Aletta's mother said hello, and sat down for breakfast. Aletta looked at Xavier asked (in a whisper) what that was about. Xavier said he wants to show her that he has manners. Aletta said ok, but don't go overboard with it. Xavier said he wouldn't.

The servant came out with their food. He placed it in front of them, and the servant asked if everything was to their liking, they all nod. The servant then walked out of the room.

Aletta was about to say something to her mother, but her mother said something first. She said "I approve of this now." Aletta asked why she changed her mind. Her mother said "I think you have finally found someone for you." They both paused for a second in amazement, and then Aletta and Xavier looked over at each other.
