Life was awkward for someone who had once been dead and was now alive. Sirius Black counted himself a lucky man. One year after the defeat of Voldemort Harry Potter made a simple birthday wish. He wished that all of the people he loved but lost to Voldemort in the world could have a second chance at life. Harry's wish brought back his parents, his godfather and even his godfather's brother Regulus, Remus Lupin and his wife Tonks, Fred Weasley and many others. His wish even brought back Severus Snape.

Sirius enjoyed his new life as a free and living man... at least for the first few days. He managed to get back the parts for his bike and with Arthur Weasley's help (or rather hinderence) he managed to rebuild it. Even while he was building it he was distracted by a strange feeling in his gut, guilt. He knew he should try to find his sister, but he had no idea where to start. This eventually led him to the only person he knew who could help him.

Landing his bike gently on the cottage's front lawn Sirius slipped off the huge motorbike. He sighed. This was not going to be a happy conversation. The door opened and Sirius' best friend Remus stuck his head out. He put a finger to his lips and grinned as he waved his friend inside.

Rebirth had been a wonderful thing for Remus. He was no longer a werewolf. His curly brown hair was no longer streaked with gray and he was almost always smiling. "I just got Teddy down for a nap." He told Sirius.

"Great," said Sirius. 'Now I don't have the kid to shield me. Maybe I should have gone to Lily or better yet Hermione.'

Remus led Sirius into the kitchen. "Would you like some tea?"

"Er... no thanks..." Sirius replied. He was thinking of how big of a mistake this was.

"Sit down then and tell me what mess you have gotten into now. Some girl is involved I suppose." Remus made some tea for himself and sat down.

Sirius couldn't sit. "Yes it is a girl." He admitted. "A very special girl."

Remus looked shocked. "You have already met a g-"

"I am talking about Kat, Remus." Sirius said interrupting. "You remember her don't you? The woman who was with you for years. The woman I tore away from you in a time you probably needed her the most."

Remus stared at Sirius who although had been speaking softly was gripping the back of a chair. "Yes," Remus said softly. "I don't think there is a day that goes by without me thinking about her and where she might be.

"I almost did not marry Tonks because I kept thinking of her. I still dream about her." Remus was not looking at Sirius. The hand holding his tea cup shook and the other was clinched in a fist upon the table.

"I am sorry, Remus. I-if I had not made her choose... you might have had as many children as Molly and Arthur." Sirius chuckled a little but stopped immediately when Remus stared at him frowning. "But I did make her choose and I did leave you her letter to find..."

"What?" Remus interrupted this time. "You wr- you wrote those last two lines... I thought she... no that was your scribble! For all these years Sirius I thought..." Remus put his face in his hands. "I have hated her so long... for nothing." He muttered.

"Remus," Sirius said kneeling beside his friend. "I did something to Kat... something that I thought would keep her safe. I couldn't ask you to help me bring her back after I escaped... she would still be in danger..."

"And these past few days?" Remus asked with a sarcastic raise of an eyebrow.

"I was afraid to face you."

Remus sighed. "Okay, what spell did you use."

"Er..." Sirius shrugged his shoulder.

"Oh for... Merlin's saggy brown bottoms, Sirius. You can't just perform spells and forget them!"

"I was in a rush." Sirius hissed "Look, you cleared out our apartment, right? The spell was in one of her books. I also hope you kept that figure of the ship."

"Thank goodness," Remus sighed. "They are all in my vault at Gringotts. Stay here and look after Teddy and I will run and get them."

Sirius bit his lip and waited patiently in the kitchen for Remus to return. He had just began to pace when Remus returned with a large trunk.

"Okay," Remus said opening the trunk. "What was the name of the book? Can you remember that? "

"Something... Dark... something." Sirius mumbled.

Remus stared at him and then sighed exasperatedly. "Well that narrows it down at least." From the trunk he pulled at least half a dozen books. He laid them out on the table along with the figure of the Flying Dutchman.

"There," Sirius cried pointing to the book: "Experimental Dark Arts."

Remus, with great effort, refrained from snapping or killing Sirius. "Okay, now we only have to find the spell."

With Sirius' help they quickly found the banishing spell. Remus could not help it this time. He asked Sirius, not for the first time, if he was brain dead.

"This spell was not successful as of the time this book was printed, Sirius. The banished people either did not return or they were dead!"

"I had to try." Sirius whined.

"And you sent her to the Flying Dutchman. Do you know anything about the Flying Dutchman? It is a myth!"

"Look," Sirius said worried. "Look, let's just try it."

Remus bit the inside of his cheek and pointed his wand at the wooden ship. He said the reversal spell and they waited a moment. When nothing happened Remus sat down, dejected. "She has either died or has moved away from wherever you sent her." He said lowly.

Sirius looked around desperately. He spotted something laying in the trunk. It was one of Kat's hairbrushs. Sirius grabbed it up. "Send me." He snapped at Remus.

"What?" The former werewolf spat out. "Sirius she might be dead."

"I owe it to her. This will send me to her because it was hers." He snatched up Remus' teacup and dumped out the tea and showed it to Remus before stuffing it in his pocket. "I will return us with this."

"What if she is dead?"

"Then I will bring back her body, damn it! I need this Remus. I cannot rest until I know."

Remus stared at the desperate man for several minutes. "Okay," he said standing up. "Okay. Bring her home." He said.

The two men embraced like brothers. "I will be right back." Sirius said confedently.
