A month and a half had passed since Jack and Barbossa had been marooned on the now aptly named Marooner's Island. Kat was able to check on them occasionally, but they were more or less the same. She was content to let them be.One morning she lay comfortably next to James. He was sleeping soundly a smile lingering on his face. They had been up late last night. Kat smiled a little. James had been very relaxed last night. He had been down right playful.
She smiled and kissed his shoulder. She began to place kisses up and along his collar bone. Suddenly she felt an unpleasant sensation. Gasping she threw herself over James and slid off the bed running to the bathroom.
"What..." James gasped when she lurched over him. He heard her being sick and jumped up to follow her. "Darling?"
Kat lurched again into the loo. She coughed and spat into the loo again and again. James knelt beside her holding back her long dark hair.
"It is okay," James soothed brushing her hair as he held it back. "Let it all out."
"I've nothing left," she moaned. She closed the lid and rested her face on the lid. "I don't understand. I felt fine a minute ago."
James stood up and put a washcloth under warm water. He then crouched back down to gently wiped her face. "I want someone to check on you. I don't want you sick."
Kat nodded as he wiped her face one last time. He kissed her forehead. He helped her up and back to bed. Kat sighed as he tucked her in. She was feeling much better. In fact she wanted some breakfast.
"After someone has looked after you." James said shaking his head. "I am going to Floo your brother and see if he can get someone."
James got dressed and went into the den. The sun had not even risen over the water. He hoped Sirius was home. He tossed powder in the dim fire expertly and called for the wizard. When he got no answer he did the same this time calling upon Remus.
The former werewolf appeared already dressed and ready for the day. "Good morning, James. What can I do for you so early in the morning?"
"Sorry to bother you, Remus; but Katherine was ill this morning and I do not know how to contact someone to see about her." He explained what had happened just moments ago.
Remus smiled. "I will go get Poppy if she is not too busy at the school, but I think I know what is wrong with her."
James raised his eyebrows. "You do?" He asked. "What do I need to do for her?"
Remus put a hand on James' shoulder. "Not much right now." He said before turning around and disappearing.
James frowned and marched back to the bedroom. Kat had gotten her wand and was drawing light patterns in the air. She put her wand down and sat up.
"Come on, my darling," he said holding his arms out to her. He could see that she was feeling much better. He was worried about the strange changes.
Kat wriggled off the bed and jumped into his arms. "I brushed my teeth." She said before attacking his mouth. James allowed the kiss to linger before pulling away.
"You need to get dressed."
"Why?" She asked kissing his neck. "I don't feel like getting dressed. I feel better now."
James closed his eyes almost wanting her to be well. "Darling, I am so overjoyed that you want me so much, but I want to know why you are sick. Remus says he thinks that he knows but he is going to get someone."
Kat pouted and stood up on her own. "Okay," she said softly. "After." She said determinedly. She dressed quickly and walked back into the den with James.
