A/N: Sorry guys for another filler, but this is good info stuff that will help you work out the characters before we add them to the rest of the Morris Island Crew. Virals will be encountered next chapter!

"Here we are!" Darcy cheerfully exclaimed as we pulled into the garage. The drive here was cool, there's so much to nature to see. It reminds me of home, where we had a large woods behind our house that I would explore often, much to my parent's disapproval. How I miss home...

Pause, breath...push that thought  away...

I hope Darcy has a good camera though, cause I am going to go on a photography spree soon! Green grass, white sand beaches, aquamarine sea, so much potential for pictures. I can't wait to explore and see the "flora and fauna" as Darcy calls them, around here. I grab my suitcase and backpack from the back of the truck and follow Darcy towards the house.

Right before we reach the door, it opens and an elegant, freckled woman grins at us. "Well look at what the cat dragged in, and speaking of cats, Mr. Midnight refuses to move from his domain"

"Oh, that cat" Darcy smiles and explains to me "He's our cat and his usual territory is now going to be your room. He can be a bit of a stubborn fusspot if you cannot already tell"

The woman at the door chuckles a bit and teasingly says "Wow, you introduce the cat first and not me. I see how it is"

To my surprise, Darcy's cheeks redden a bit and she sheepishly turns towards me. "Well, um, sorry about that. Katrina, meet Jade Lewis. She is, ah, she's my partner"

Her words sunk in after a second, and a puzzle piece finally clicked into place in my mind. So that is why I never got to meet my mother's sister. She was shunned from the family years ago before I could remember because of her orientation. Yep, my new aunt is gay. Personally, I am not bothered. My family was always big into the church thing, so this makes sense, but I never really had much belief. (No hating, okay?) I much preferred science and Darwin's theory of evolution than the idea of a God watching us. But this certainly does explain a bit more of my family.

While still processing all the new info, I politely said "Hello, nice to meet you" to Jade. She certainly seemed interesting, with her straight, shoulder-length brown hair in a practical ponytail, and freckles that framed kind, amber eyes. I certainly wasn't going to judge her solely on her preference for women, unlike my family apparently.

Darcy looked uncomfortable, probably waiting for an outburst of a religious sort. Luckily for her, that wasn't going to happen. Thankfully Jade noticed her partner's awkwardness and quickly came forward, putting an arm around my aunt, before addressing me "It's so nice to meet you too! Don't mind Darce, she wasn't quite sure what reaction we'd get from you about, you know..."

"Don't worry" I quickly said, trying to put them both at ease "I don't mind"

"Really?" Darcy looked relieved. "I was hoping it wouldn't be a problem, but given past reactions from some family members, you can probably understand why I moved down here to be with Jade"

"I understand" I reassured her "It's not a problem for me"

Darcy visibly relaxed and Jade cracked a grin at me, stating "Well that's good, guess we won't have any issues then. Thank you for understanding, honestly we were both kinda nervous about all this."

I nodded, expressing wordlessly that it was all fine. All three of us then stood still for a moment, and an awkward silence began to stretch out for several moments. Both Darcy and I jumped when Jade loudly clapped her hands together "Well then! We should probably get you settled in now Katrina, let us show you to your room"
