Chapter 22: Game On (Part 1)

A/N: Hey guys! Sorry for the delay, I had a busy week and no time to write. Now, I have decided to start meddling with the canon characters to find a suitable ship with Katrina. While I don't want romance to be the main theme in this fanfic, I wanted to give you guys a little warning before I started seriously tweaking at the heartstrings.  Don't worry, I won't mess with the BenXTory ship, that will remain intact. But I would appreciate feedback on this matter. Who do you ship, and why? Let me know in the comments. Anyways, enjoy! 

Katrina pov

Once school finally got out, I was exhausted and hungry. Both irritations were for the most part my fault; I had stayed up most of the night before trying to keep away the nightmares, with little success. I had finally crashed around 5am, but then I slept through my alarm, so I had quickly rushed out the door to catch the boat over to school, skipping breakfast and forgetting my lunch.

"Oh well..." I sigh to myself "at least I had a big supper the night before." 

My musings are suddenly interrupted by a timid tap on my left shoulder. I whirl around, and see Shelton jump back in surprise at my abrupt response. "Katrina! So sorry, didn't mean to startle you, I just wanted to ask you a quick question..."

I smile a bit "Okay Shelton, what is it?"

Shelton shifts around nervously "I was wondering if you'd like to come over to my house for some fun and games. My parents, they'd like to meet you...and Hi will be there too." He added the last part quickly, as if he almost forgot to add it in.

"Why sure, sounds like fun." I respond, genuinely excited to be a part of another gaming escapade. And the fact that Shelton invited me was all the more encouraging, it seems he's not so scared of me anymore.

Shelton pov

I was an overjoyed, anxious, and slightly guilty mess inside when Katrina had accepted my offer to join me and Hi at my house. I easily pushed aside the guilt part though, Hi would be there, so it wasn't like I was stealing her from him...yet.

As much as I have tried to deny it and ignore my feelings, they refuse to be repressed. I have developed a serious crush on Katrina. Which is hugely unfortunate, considering Hi has taken an interest in her. I have no experience whatsoever in how to manage a crush, much less a relationship. This was a revolutionary first in the love life of Shelton.

"Well" I muse to myself "Hiram may have an interest, but that doesn't mean I'm going to just give up on her..."

They say that love is often likened to a game, with multiple players vying for the ultimate prize: a soulmate. Well if this is a game, then I challenge you, Hiram Stolowitski for the affections of Katrina. It's game on, my friend.
