A/N: Hey! So, so, so sorry for making you all wait. But I have a solution! Sort of...we'll see... Anyways, I'm gonna write shorter pieces hopefully more often, so I don't have to face the daunting task of writing over a thousand words each time, it get to you after a while. Special thanks to ViralWings who suggested some of the plotline for this, I appreciate all of the feedback I get. So I hope you enjoy, let me know what you think! (Cover art by fern-7 on deviantart)

Well it seems as if I've been somewhat accepted into their group.

We were all walking around the island and Hi was yammering away about all the escapades they had on the islands around here. He mostly gave very general info and vague details though, and I got the feeling that he wasn't really saying everything.

A glance at the rest of the pack (it seems to fit, so I shall call them a pack) confirms my suspicions. Tory is keeping an oh-so-casual eye on Hi, and probably an ear too. Most likely to make sure he doesn't say too much. Even as I'm watching, she casually nudges him as he edges into the subject of her dog Coop and how they got him.

Without turning, I can tell that someone was glaring at me too. Such a glower could only come from Ben, and I could practically feel it as if it were something crawling up my neck. A quick look from my peripheral vision reveals his tense form at my flank. Hostility seems to radiate from him and it was directed right at me.

This pack is a mystery, that was for sure. From the moment they found me, they have been either nervous or defensive around me, except for Hi, who didn't seem to give a care. The unwelcoming feeling comes especially from Tory and Ben, who I've marked as the Alpha pair of the group, but even Shelton did not seem comfortable with meeting me, and not just because he was shy.

I wondered about it for a while, as Hi was going on about the turtles around here and their various encounters with them. For the moment, there was not much evidence or even ideas as to why I'm so unwelcome, I'd get it if they don't want me in their group, but they're being a bit too aggressive for that. It's almost as if they already have a reasoning behind why they're against me...

A thought from my subconsciousness rises in fragments:

Pack... Hunt... Fear... Mystery...

Last nights creatures, there were four of them. And I even stared down the one that I instinctively felt was the alpha, which was about the same size as Tory. Looking at them clearly now, they would also be about the same size as what I saw if they were crouching down in the bushes. The more I consider this the more I believe it to be the best solution. And if that wasn't reason enough, then I also had a strong gut feeling to go with it.

Ever since I had prowled with the wolves back home, I began to have more instinct-based decisions and gut feelings. By now I've learned to trust my gut, as it hasn't led me astray yet. The one thing that is still left to be explained though, is the blazing blue eyes that I saw, which couldn't be entirely human...

I snap back to attention as we reach a sandy beach and I realize that Hi is looking right at me. I feel my cheeks redden slightly as he suddenly burst out "You know, you have really pretty eyes, they're really blue"

Being the fool I was, I panicked and stammered "U-uh, t-thanks, so are yours"

I realized my mistake as everyone immediately froze around me. Hi looked at me with confused, but suspicious brown eyes. "My eyes are not blue..."

Oh crap...
