I stood up on my own and grabbed my book bag, walking out of the closet as my anger continued to bubble, ready to really tell Logan what for, only to find that he was knocked out against one of the classroom doors. I turned to Kohl and he looked annoyed.
"Thank you for helping me. I didn't know what else to do, but how did you find me inside the school? I thought you would have messaged me when you got here. I didn't think anyone was coming, I was about to call dad" He heaved out a sigh but didn't answer my question. He began to make his way out of the school.
"Kohl, I can't leave, I still have 4 periods left." He kept walking, ignoring me, giving the office lady a look before slamming the doors open and jogging down the steps.
"It's fine Katherine, nobody is going to say anything."
"But I'm saying something, I can't leave Kohl!" I was beginning to get frustrated. Although I technically didn't want to stick around after what had happened, with finals at my front door it was for the better. Kohl halted and turned to face me.
"You really want to hang around for the rest of the day with that dickhead still on the grounds?" It was almost like he had read my mind, and so I dropped the case, sighing and shaking my head.
"Wait, I forgot I drove, I have to go to my car." Kohl sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
"Okay, let me walk you." His eyes grew soft, and he trailed behind me.
"I'm surprised that you haven't asked me why he locked me in a closet?" Kohl let out a frustrated breathe
"I don't need to ask, it was a misunderstanding, but he is going to get his ass kicked for it." We had made it to my car but I stopped myself from getting in to it.
"You can't do anything to him, he's just an idiot. I really don't need to be ostricised anymore than I am as the new kid. I can't imagine that adding that to the list would help." I knew what he had done was wrong, but it worried me to think about what would happen if I was to be caught alone with him again, if Kohl decides to follow up.
Kohl's anger was now very visible.
"He'll be dealt with and that's the end of it." I sighed and got in to the car.
"What I do is not going to make your last week of school any harder, I promise" He went back to the soft pitying eyes and put his hand on my head like I was a small child.
"Okay" He nodded slightly, took his hand off of my head and walked toward where he had parked his car.
I was at my house in what felt like a few minutes. I knew it was a short drive, but my head was swarming with thoughts, so that also helped the time pass. I went to pull in to my spot but cursed at the car that had taken it, a car that I didn't recognise. I surveyed my front yard and noticed that there was at least 3 extra cars parked out the front, not including the ones owned by the various members of my family. I knew my brothers made friends quickly, but this was on another level. I found a place to park across the road and cut the engine, grabbing my book bag from the passenger side of my car before getting out.
I was annoyed that my day had instantly turned to shit. It was only 11am, but the fact that I had to only survived two periods and was then locked in a closet was not something I was proud of. Not that it's my fault, Logan should be punished, and I should stop feeling so fucking bad for him. I guess I wasn't so mad that Kohl was going to kick his ass. I wondered if I would be allowed to stay home for the rest of the week to study and then do finals next week. There was no point in me being there for the next four days feeling unsafe and not being able to focus.
I opened the front door and made my way to the kitchen. I opened the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water, rubbing my hand against my head to try and rub away the headache that was forming, before heading outside to my backyard, contemplating going for a swim. I closed the door behind me, only to be confronted by my two brothers and three of their friends fighting in the backyard, in the dirt.
"Uh, hey guys?" It came out more as a question then a greeting.
They all turned around toward me, not noticing that I had even entered the backyard.
Before anyone had even responded to my greeting, Xavier began to approach me"Katherine, that kids name was Logan right?" He carried with him a dead serious look.
"Correct." I nodded my head solidly and he nodded back at me. I looked around him at his friends. I scanned the 3 faces that I didn't know and tried not to blush at how attractive, and shirtless they now were. Having discarded their shirts that were covered in dirt and tossing them ut of the way.
"Who's this gorgeous girl Xavier?"
Xavier straightened up and turned toward the friend that had asked the question. Xavier moved like lightning, pinning his friend to the ground. I heard what sounded almost like a low growl, before Xavier was whispering in his ear. His face had gone from cocky to worried, which he masked quickly to stern before pulling himself from Xavier and brushing himself off.
The handsome stranger glanced up at me "Sorry Katherine."
"No, it's fine really." I laughed, flatter either way, but stared daggers at Xavier. He was going to have to eventually accept that some boys wanted to pay me some attention.
The stranger smiled back at me and winked before pushing Xavier jokingly and then they went back to what they were doing.
I felt heat rise to my cheeks and took a swig of water, trying to brush off the effect that a wink had on me. Something so lighthearted and childish had me feeling like a middle aged woman with menopause, hot and bothered. I yawned and realised that sleep had slowly began to take over my already cloudy brain. All of the activities today had seemed to take a larger toll on me than I had thought.
"I'm gonna head upstairs guys, probably take a nap. I'm wrecked" The boys grunted in unison.
Making my way up to my room, I chucked on some comfy clothes before quickly nodding off.*
It felt like I had only slept for a couple of minutes when I woke up. My headache had only gotten worse and I could feel the drool the had dried up on my face. The nap hadn't made me feel any better like I thought it would. I looked for my phone to try and figure out the time, only to realise I had left my book bag on the kitchen counter before going outside, and didn't bother to grab it on my way up. I groaned loudly, I didn't want to get up, but I wanted to make sure I hadn't been contacted by the school. I put my shorts back on, not realising how I'd managed to take them off during my nap, and proceeded downstairs.
It took me a couple seconds to realise that it wasn't just my brothers that were home. Deciding it was probably the guys from before, I kept strolling towards the kitchen to grab my phone.
"Noah.. our sister.."
I stopped on the steps. Trying to listen closely. I wanted to hear what they had to say about me, without alerting them to my presence.
"Well then where is she?"
My face contorted into a frown. What the hell did they want me for? Maybe it was an official from school, wondering why I had left so early, and on my first day. I dropped my forehead into my palm silently smacking it.
"She's up in her room."
My head shot up from my hand. I needed to sneak back in to my room. I turned slowly and began to creep back up the stairs.
"She's awake"
"Wait, Noah-"
Kohls voice was cut off by foot steps, but the echoing in the house had me confused, I wasn't sure if they were walking towards me or the door. I continued to creep up the stairs before I heard a very purposeful cough at the bottom of the stairs.
"Hello Katherine."
