I woke up feeling like my skin was on fire. I was sweating uncontrollably and I was too uncomfortable to be underneath the blankets anymore. I brought my hands up to my eyes, rubbing what felt like tears that had begun to irritate me, before stopping to check my surroundings. It took me a moment to remember that I was in Noah's pack. Where Noah's pack was exactly, I didn't know. I stood up from the bed. My knees shaking as I almost dropped to the floor. My head was pounding as I cradled it between my hands, blindly going through the door that I had hoped was the bathroom.
The first thing I did was take my clothes off, they had felt like they were scratching at my skin, becoming too painful to bare. I dragged myself towards the little bath, turning the cold water, not bothering to turn on the hot, why would I want to make this fever worse. It was taking too long to fill so I jumped in, and the relief last for about 5 seconds before I felt the water becoming warm. I began to swear loudly. I was completely fine yesterday, why the hell was this happening now? As the cold water reached the brim of the tub, I turned it off. This was frankly better than nothing. I closed my eyes and rested my head against the bath tub, finding some solace in my now lukewarm bath tub.
"Katherine!" I opened my eyes slightly, looking at the door, too deprived of energy to respond
"Katherine, where are you!?" I recognised the voice as Noah's, although it sounded like he was down the hallway. Mustering up the strength I could, I yelled out for him.
The next thing I know, Noah is practically breaking down my door in nothing but a pair of shorts, his eyes pitch black. I looked at him for all of two seconds before closing my eyes once more and resting my head against the bathtub.
"I don't feel well Noah." My voice was barely above a whisper as it cracked, signalling my urge to cry at the pain.
"Make it go away." I didn't stop the tears now, I didn't want to move. I was also suddenly regretting my idea to get in to the bath completely naked, but I wasn't about to throw a fit.
"Can I.. Can I pick you up?" I could tell how scared he was, how concerned he was about making sure he didn't make me upset.
"It's fine." I went to place both of my arms on the side of the bath tub to get up, be he was quickly to stop me, pushing me back down in the water.
I gasped at his touch, it was like the pain had eased whilst he touched me, but came rushing back when he pulled away.
"What? What did I do?" I looked at Noah once more, his eyes still pitch black, but I could see the fear written all over his face.
"It was like the pain went away when you touched me," I shook my head,
"I can't even describe it."
"Fuck!" Noah was back to being angry now, his nostrils flaring as he ran his fingers through his hair as he paced around the room.
"What Noah?" My vision was becoming hazy from opening my eyes for too long.
"You aren't going to like what I have to tell you."
"Do I ever?" I chuckled lightly as I recalled an argument we had once.
"This isn't funny Katherine, we need to mate to make this pain stop." I grew confused.
"I thought we were mated?" He sighed at my response.
"No Katherine, we are mates, being mated means that we've had sex and I've marked you."
My emotions bubbled over as I couldn't take him yelling at me and telling me that we needed to bone all at one time and I began to cry again, mumbling incoherently.
