The last hour or so had been a blur. Bombarded with different faces and names of the many pack members that had become onlookers to Noah and I's moment, their eyes glistening with joy, like I'm Santa Clause handing out presents and they're all the fresh age of 5 on Christmas day. Finally getting through the majority of people, I exhaled loudly, wiping imaginary sweat from my forehead.
"That was.. that was something." I chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of my neck, but I noticed pretty quickly that Noah wasn't paying attention.
"Noah?" I pushed his shoulder slightly, his eyes glazed over, staring in to the distance.
I pushed his shoulder lightly once more, only to be met with Noah's hand grabbing my wrist as he still gazed off in to the distance. I took a look around the pack house, only to realise that a few of the other pack members were doing the same thing, minus the wrist grabbing, I think that they had told me that they were just some of the warriors that the pack had, which I considered strange, as I had met them before the Beta, although Noah had said he was busy. What happened next I didn't expect. The warriors movements were quick as they raced towards the door, already stripping their clothes from their bodies, and Noah had pulled me in to a small room at the front of the house.
"Katherine, you need to stay here."
"What?"
"There's a problem at the packs borderline, I need to go and assist my beta, now." The stress was evident on his face as his eyes raced around mine.
He grabbed my face and pulled me to him quickly, kissing me in a haste. The kiss only lasted a second before he was pulling back and running out of the room and out of the house.
Noah
My paws collided with the forest floor continually, pushing until the burn in my limbs became a numb sensation. I was seeing red, my wolf had fully taken over as he received snippets of the fight that was currently reaching its peak at the border. A vicious snarl ripped through my chest, right from my gut, as I was less than 10 seconds away from breaking the tree line to attack the rogues that so stupidly thought they could cross me without my knowledge.
My claws tore up the ground beneath me, extending further as I spotted my first target. A small dusty brown wolf, sitting back snarling in the tree line, a spectator of sorts, and he definitely wasn't expecting my jaws to clamp around his neck. I dragged him to the forrest floor, putting all of my weight in to the bite as I wanted to prolong his pain, his suffering. Fuck him and his ensemble of rogues. I would tear them all down, limb by limb.
Honestly, I missed a good bloodbath.
The snapping of the wolf's neck had me howling in viscous delight, as my teeth, now covered in blood, were bared at the rogues as they continued to attack my pack. I advanced from the now dead wolf, and forced my way in to the middle of the brawl. The snarls were deafening as I backed my brothers and let loose, a blind rage taking over me before my wolf came to a stand still, panting loudly in a sea of red, and then I felt myself fall and the sea of red became black.
Katherine
My body refused to feel anything other than confused as they carried Noah's naked body from the forest. I had been sitting in the living area, my body on alert for impending attacks or something of the sort, when they had hurried through, the Beta carrying Noah by his pits and one of their warriors carrying him by his feet. I met eyes with the Beta as they rushed Noah towards the pack infirmary, trying to be as quick but as careful as possible.
I got up from my spot on the couch silently, my mouth dropping slightly, a hand coming up to my mouth ever so slightly. My feet moved without thinking as I begun to hear scuffling coming from the outside of the house, followed by murmurs and small cries. The pack could feel their Alpha's pain and it had begun taking its toll, even the numbness that I had been feeling was slowly ebbing away, being replaced with that of pain.
I continued to stumble forward until I reached the main door of the infirmary, peeking through to see a number of white jackets running around and in towards one of the main surgical rooms, blood covering some that left, and concerned faces of those entering. I snatched the door handle, opening it roughly and making my way towards the room I already knew Noah was in.
"Miss.."
"Miss!" A hand connected with my upper arm in a tight grip, which I ripped off as I growled lowly at the assailant. I could feel the body backing away.
I pushed through the few nurses and doctors as the door got closer and my nerves shot up higher as well as the number of eyes on me. It had only been 30 seconds and I had made it to the door, but my body froze. My breathing began to quicken as I laid my hand on the door frame from the outside and contemplated this moment. I felt like I was suffocating, as if I had jumped in to the deep end of a pool but couldn't get back to the surface, my lungs constricting with a fiery might as I struggled.
In the midst of my inner turmoil, a nurse had come barreling by the door, knocking me forward for a moment, and only then was I forced to look at Noah, stretched out on a hospital bed, bite wounds littering his body, along with deep blue and purple bruising on his face and along the side of his body. I didn't make any noise as I continued to stare at him in shock.
I advanced towards him slowly, carefully. I knew that he was unconscious, his heart beat relaxed on the monitor, although mine was hammering in my chest. Upon close inspection, I could see the swelling around his eyes and just how deep the bites were. How he had lasted until the end of the fight was beyond me, he should have been a crippled mess. Being the Alpha though, I guess showing weakness in front of the pack is the last thing that he wanted to do. In the midst of staring intently at his wounds, I didn't notice the heart rate monitor beeping faster, increasing at a rapid rate.
Not until I saw his eyes opened, staring at me.
"What are you doing here?" His voice was low and gruff.
"I- I was just checking up on you.." My voice was barely above a whisper.
"Get out."
"What?"
"I said get the fuck out!" The machines beeping so loudly paired with his roaring voice had me shaking on the spot, until the Beta ran in.
"What the fuck is going on in here?"
"I don't know. He just-"
"What the fuck, did I just tell you?" He was staring at me, his eyes filled with fury.
"Noah, what the fuck is wrong with you? Let's go."
I let Logan drag me out of the room, but not before I could hear Noah's parting words.
"Make sure you take her the fuck home, Logan."
