"This is the gym" Logan thrust his arm out in front of him.
I shuddered. I hated physical exercise, I hated sweat, I hated group sport, I just hated everything to do with the gym. Logan could tell I was two seconds away from running out of the door, so he ushered me towards the doors with a sign hanging over them stating 'change rooms', putting his hand on my upper back, slightly hanging on to my shoulder. It calmed me slightly, but I couldn't help but question why he was being so nice towards me. Was it missplaced? Did he hope it would get him somewhere? Because it certainly wouldn't.
"These are the change rooms. Female on the right and male on the left. You brought a change of clothes right?"
I nodded in response, not looking up at him.
"Sweet. I'll be out in a few" He let go of me and pushed into male change room.
I stood there stunned for a minute. No shitty comment about me getting changed earned him a brownie point in my book. Maybe the boys in Florida just set a really low standard for males. If that was the case, then god I'm glad I moved.
I entered the room at a slow pace, like a frightened puppy. I silently thanked the gods that the changing rooms were all seperate and it wasn't some kind of free for all, like in Florida. I'm glad it only took me moving 45 hours away and being in my last week of school to feel comfortable. I entered one of the rooms and locked the door just as a group of girls walked in to the changing rooms, chatting and laughing about the one of the memes that they had seen whilst on facebook during their first class. I instantly regretted attending school once my gym clothes were on. I may as well strut around naked with the amount of skin that was covered, but at least the uniform was all black. Thankfully the Florida sun gave me a bit of tan before we came up here, as I had decided to spend my last few days strolling around and enjoying it, otherwise I'd be as pale as a cotton ball.
I folded my other clothes and placed them in my book bag and exited the changing room. I expected people to stare and make faces at me, like in the movies, but it couldn't have been more of the opposite, they acted like I wasn't there, not in a mean way, just like I was everyone else. I was relieved.
I exited the changing rooms, scanning the few students that lingered around the gym, stretching, talking to each other. I was wondering around aimlessly when Logan came up to me, pushing me slightly.
"You lost?"
"I would like to be instead of in gym class." I followed this up with a sickly sweet smile.
He chuckled at my response a little before the teacher began to yell.
"Alright guys, 3 laps around gym!"
I sighed as Logan sprinted ahead, smiling at me before he did so, as I jogged leisurely. I closed my eyes for extended periods of time, and opened them enough to notice that I was slowly being left behind, so I picked up the pac, finishing with a majority of the class.
Gym felt like it dragged on for hours. The teacher didn't care what we did really, as it was our last week, so we did a bunch of random activities until the bell rang, which I couldn't have been more thankful for.
"See that wasn't so bad." Logan was trying to cheer me up as I panted towards the changing rooms, needing to get out of my current sweaty attire.
"I think I might die."
"Die whilst changing, because after that, I'll show you around the school" I held my hands on my hips, breathing deeply and nodding, but waving Logan off as I walked through the change room door.
Grabbing my clothes from my book bag hastily, I exhaled loudly and made my way in to one of the changing rooms, tearing off the gym clothes and shoving them in my bag. I took out my deodorant, spraying it liberally and shoving it back in to my bag, exiting quickly, not wanting the smell of sweat from the others continue to assault my senses. Logan was standing next to the exit when I left the rooms, looking refreshed.
"Alright, come on, lets go." I appreciated the gesture and gave him a small smile, but I really didn't think it was necessary for a tour considering I was leaving a week.
He slowly walked in front of me, talking about the school and the best places to sneak away with your partner, and all of the things I didn't care to know about, as I trailed behind him, lost in my own thoughts, staring at the throng of students around me, and trying remember all of the different classrooms that there was, before Logan stopped, forcing me to stumble in to his back.
"What the hell?" I stepped back as Logan turned around to look at me.
He had a cheeky grin on his face and motioned his head to his left. I was faced with the janitors closet. So his intentions had been just as I suspected.
"Unfrotunately I don't play in to the small town high scool cliche." I was giving him a deadpan look as he wiggled his eyebrows.
"Right, well, it was great to meet you until now so I-." I went to move past him, but he grabbed my bicep, and the smile slowly faded from his face.
"I'm not going to get acquainted with the closet, but you sure as shit are." In what had felt like 5 seconds, he had swung the door open and shoved me in the little box, making me fall backwards into a mop bucket and my book bag to go flying.
"What the fuck?" I knew my back was going to be bruised badly from hitting the bucket and it only made my anger worsen. I was seething.
"Don't worry, we'll sort you out soon enough." His tone was condescending as I heard him lean against the door and lock it.
I grabbed my phone immediately, texting Xavier and Kohl some words of distress. I didn't want to call anyone and risk Logan coming in to take my phone for whatever fucked 'prank on the new kid' this was. What a disturbing way to welcome someone.
Logan hadn't moved the entire time and or spokento anyone the entire twenty minutes, and counting. Neither Kohl, nor Xavier had responded to my texts. I didn't want to text my parents and freak them out, but I would if necessary. I was giving it another 30 minutes.
"Beta Chambers, what are you doing here?" I could hear Logan's voice rising in panic, but he wasn't met with an answer, there was only a crash and groan in pain.
The door unlocked and Kohl stood there, extending his hand out to me.
"Come on, let's go."
