Courtney

I sat in the dark room listening to Ray sleep. I looked out the window, getting lost into my thoughts. I sighed, feeling the tears fall down my face. How is my life going to go now that my mom is gone? How am I gonna see Sabrina? My dad?

I wiped the tears from my face, adjusting my shirt. I raised my shirt, seeing my baby move. My baby wasn't going to know his/her grandmother. I laid on my side, bursting in tears. I sobbed into my pillow, feeling a hand rubbing my shoulder. I rolled over, facing Rayan to see him still sleep. My eyes widened. Who just touched me? I wiped my eyes, sniffling. Ray then woke up and pulled me into him.

"Baby, stop crying," he said, kissing my forehead. I felt the baby kick harder. Ray lifted up my shirt. "Daddy baby don't like to see momma sad."

I smiled. "How did you know the baby kicked?" I asked. "I felt that kick," he laughed. "Bae kicked me on the side," he said. I rubbed my stomach and Ray did as well.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of loud music. I slid out of bed, sliding on my shorts. Ray wasn't in the room with me, but he had told me to make myself at home. I went downstairs and seen Ray with a couple different boys. They looked around our age.

"Ray," I spoke. He looked at me, then walked up to me. He wrapped his arms around my waist, walking up to the boys.

"Y'all this my wifey Courtney," he spoke. They all nodded. "Baby, these are my cousins," he said, introducing me to all three of them. I nodded, waving at them. They welcomed me with opened arms.

"You our cousin girl, so you fam nah," one of them spoke. He was mixed with short, curly hair. He was tall, same height as Ray. "I'm Dee."

"I'm TJ," another dude spoke. He resembled Ray, just a little darker and shoulder length hair. "And I'm DJ," another dude spoke, "TJ's twin, we all three brothas," Only difference was that DJ had a short cut with waves. I nodded. "We got a sista but ha' ass ain't hur' yet wit ha' fast ass," TJ said in the country accent they had. I nodded again.

"I went and got us some stuff from the store, it's on the kitchen counter," Ray said walking me into the kitchen. I looked into the bag and seen basic things like underwear, toothbrushes, bras, etc. "Ray, where did you get the money to get this stuff?" I asked. He sighed. "Just know, I got you baby. You'll never need for shit I can guarantee it," he said, cupping my face into his lips. "Now go brush your teeth, stankin breath ass."

I laughed, grabbing a pink toothbrush finding the nearest bathroom. I brushed my teeth. Afterwards, I looked inside of my duffle bag for some clothes, going to take a shower. After that, I dressed myself in a jogging suit and some white socks, showing off my baby bump.

"Hey baeby," Ray's aunt, Marlie smiled. She had revealed her name to me. "Hey auntie," I smiled, hugging her. "How my la'baeby doing in there?" she asked, rubbing my stomach. "Oh, bae is good," I said, patting my stomach. "Y'all still don't know the gender?" she asked. I shook my head. "I was supposed to go next week, but...." I trailed off, feeling my eyes fill up in tears. She rubbed my shoulders. "It's okay, I can get you set up with an OBGYN down here," she said. I nodded, wiping my eyes. "Well, Ray went out with his cousins right quick so you'll be here with me," Marlie said. We walked to the couch, sitting down.

"I remember when I was pregnant with my twins, they drove me wild," she laughed. I smirked, nodding. "Bae, does too," I said, rubbing my stomach. Marlie smiled. "That's so cute, but let me contact that OBGYN for you, be right back," she walked away. I lounged on the chair, tapping my stomach. My baby pushed its little foot, showing a small footprint. I smiled to myself.
