Chapter 29

She went back to their table but she felt so hot, she could feel her face was flushed from what Christian had said. What does he mean by finding out if I love him. Michelle noticed her anxiousness and tapped her shoulders lightly.

"You okay??" Michelled asked.

She nodded. She couldn't trust her voice this time. Her eyes went back on the stage. It was now Sage singing. A song of the band's composition. Sage was looking at her. She smiled back.

A while later, Chris went back to sit beside her. She stiffened.

"Was my step brother courting you or your together now??" Chris asked bluntly.

Wow. Chris noticed this immediately on the first day or was he asking around about her? She looked at him sharply. "That's none of your business," she muttered. He was too near for her own peace of mind. She needs to tap herself twice just to remind herself to breathe.

" Well, hadn't you just told me you like me back there??" he smirk.

Her eyes bugged. It's a good thing its too loud or else Michelle and Anicka would have overheard what Chris had just said.

"Well if you must know I happen to like a lot of people including all your former bandmates by the way," she retorted.

He grinned again. He laughed wholeheartedly. "Well if you say so. But I don't think you could kiss them like what you have done a while ago too."

What he said was true ofcourse but she doesn't exactly want to point that out. She couldn't come up with a snappy retort back so she ignored what he had just said. She fidgeted in her seat. She glanced at her watch again hoping that it will soon be over.

"How about you Kris? Want to hitch a ride we could dropped you off at your apartment." Blake offered after the gig. They were still going for an after recap after this but Kris had declined.

"I can drive her home," Sage offered first.

Chris cleared his throat. "Don't bother brother. I'll drive her. You can go with the others."

Sage raised his brows and looked at Kristine. Clearly the decision was up to her.

"Uhm Really I am not a child. I can go home alone." She said indignantly. What was Christian up to offering to drive her home.

"I am not in the mood for a recap if Kris wasn't going." Sage muttered. He looked at Kris pleadingly.

"Sage." Chris started. "If you aren't in the mood for a recap you can go home."

Sage sulked but he just nodded. He looked at his stepbrother for a moment then stormed off.

Kris really wanted to run after Sage but she couldn't move. Emmet and Trey went to their car and Blake and Michelle waved their goodbyes leaving her with Christian.

Christian went ahead and grabbed her hand. As if any moment she would run. Well the place was packed with taxi at this time. It's almost 4am in the morning and some people were already on their way to their jobs.

They were both silent on the ride to her apartment. Kristine was really surprised to find that Christian knew where she now lives without asking her for directions. She hopped out immediately after the car stopped at the apartment gates without waiting for Chris to open her door.

"Thanks for the ride home." She said hurriedly and slammed the door shut.

"Afraid to test my theory??" Christian asked getting out of the car too.

"What theory??," Kristine asked sharply pivoting back.

"Well that your actions would betray you." He mocked.
