Ash had been gone for only 2 minutes, but it felt like 2 hours. I was sitting on a small couch, at the end of what was Michael's bed, scrolling through twitter.
A shuffling behind me made my head turn, and I turned around to see Michael's face centimeters from my own. He looked between my lips, and my own eyes, before I turned my body around to face the back of the couch, and he looked at his feet. I locked my phone - noticing it was now around 11.45 - before looking back at him.
"Did you want something?" I said, not intentionally trying to sound rude. He'd been acting weird since I asked him, well, what i'd asked him, and now I was curious as to why he was doing so. It was silent for a few seconds, and I began to think he wasn't going to reply, until Michael shifted off of his bed, and sat beside me on the couch.
"So, uhm, about what you said before..." He trailed off.
"It doesn't matter," I said, "If you don't want to talk about it, then it's fine."
"No. I mean I want to talk it's just kind of weird, you're my best friend."
I let out a small laugh.
"I thought Luke was your best friend?"
"Yeah, yeah, uhm... so, you were asking... damn this is hard to explain, I just guess I-"
Our conversation was cut short by Ashton turning his head around the now open door and his hair flopped over his face. He came with two beers in his hand, and smiling, he handed one to me, and the other to Michael, before turning to leave again, all whilst saying nothing.
"Well that was weird," I observed "Michael wher-" and all of a sudden, it was me being cut short rather than Michael, as his lips crushed to mine. I kissed him back, before we both quickly pulled away.
"Why did yo-"
"I was sick of being cut off." He smirked, with a sudden grow in confidence, taking a sip from his beer. He put his arm out, gesturing for me to sit closer to him, and I layed my head on his chest, taking a sip from my own beer.
"I thought you said I was just your best friend, like Luke?" I laughed.
"I guess... I like you just a bit more than Luke..." he smirked.
"Just a little bit?" I giggled.
"Just an itty, bitty, little bit." He laughed.
I took a huge gulp from my beer, finishing off the bottle, and setting it on the floor, lying back onto Michael's chest.
"Do you like me?"
"What do you mean by that?" I asked tilting my head towards him. His eyes hinted at worry and doubt.
"You kissed me back, remember?"
I sighed, he was right, and I did like him, alot actually.
"Yeah, maybe I like you too," I mumbled, "Just an itty bitty little bit." I smirked again, at the quoting of Michael's own lyrics.
Finally, I'd established my feelings to him, and he has made his own clear too, lifting a huge burden from the back of my mind, that he might never like me back.
Michael set his own bottle down on the floor, before returning back to the couch, letting out a prolonged sigh.
"What does this make us?" I asked, and I placed my hand on his chest, drawing nervous circles.
"Whatever you want us to be, I guess. We don't have to jump straight into things, I mean if that's what you want?"
"No, I agree." I yawned. My eyelids were begining to get heavy, and I was slowly drifting off to sleep. I closed my eyes, with my head still resting on Michael's chest, listening to his heartbeat. He began to draw small circles on my side, which was relaxing.
Aside from Michael's pulse, the room was silent. Apart from, of course, the shuffling that he had heard outside the door.
"Damn. Hey Y/N?" Michael said.
"Hmmm?" I was almost asleep, but reluctantly opened my eyes.
He sat up, forcing me, also, to do so; I rubbed my eyes, removing myself from being too close to Michael, and saw the door open, with Ashton, Luke and Calum walking through it.
"Just act like nothing happened." I whispered abruptly.
"Why?" Michael replied, and as he lifted his head, he too saw Dan, staring straight at the distance that wasn't between us.
