Chapter fifteen

Kate's POV

I left the hospital room in a hurry and went to get the coffee.

My face was burning, from the fact the Leo had somehow heard everything, especially by the way he said it.

I wish I knew what he had mumbled. I have a feeling that he does remember what he said, but he just won't tell me.

Stop thinking about it Kate. Oh geez, why is my heart still beating so fast? It's going to fall out of my chest soon. Leo is your best friend, Ned is your husband. Mia, Joe and Bear are your children. Get yourself together.

I wanted to scream. But it was all locked up inside me. But something more wanted to come out of my mouth than just a scream.

When I was so sure I was going crazy, it was officially confirmed when I spilt coffee down my top.

I know I should be thinking about Ned. But all I can think about is Leo. Leo is the only person in my mind and I couldn't put anyone else in there.

And it was starting to really get on my nerves.

"Okay, get your act together Kate Winslet. This is your best friend we are talking about, you are always going to be his best friend. It's going to stay like that." I told myself, as I got strange looks from people walking past me, for talking to myself.

Oh my god, who am I kidding? I'm in love with my best friend.

I didn't want to face reality. It couldn't be the truth. It just couldn't. I love Ned. That's how the story of my life ends, with Ned.

Friendzone.

It's a term I never really use nor think about. But it may or may not start dropping by to say hello to me.

I took in a deep breath and walked back into the hospital room. I must not overthink this. And I must not mention the thing about James Cameron. Or anything else he may have heard.

Leo looked up at me with his mesmerizing blue eyes.

They are so beautiful, like the sky, me and you can just fly away Leo...no Kate! Stop it!

"I g-got the coffee, just the way you like it," I stuttered.

What the fuck Kate. Why are you stuttering?

"Thank you hun," he smiled.

And that smile, I just want to lean in and kiss him...NO. NO YOU DON'T KATE. That's it TIME OUT.

"I'm going to use the bathroom," I pointed out.

"Okay, but come straight back or I may put myself into another near death situation," he laughed.

I rolled my eyes. But I didn't feel any more relaxed. I couldn't figure out why all of a sudden I became so attracted to him.

His personality, his kindness, his knowledge, his eyes, his smile, his laugh, his voice, everything.

I mean, I've always been attracted to him, but over the past few days, I've realized how much he really means too me.

I quickly slipped away as I realized Leo was still staring at me and wondering why I haven't gone yet.

Leo's POV

Kate has been acting really strangely all of a sudden, ever since I have her the hint that I knew what she said. What if she hear me saying "I love you"?

I'll admit that I'm falling in love with Kate more and more as the seconds tick by. She's been by my side this whole time, and it makes me realize how much she means to me.

I can't imagine life without Kate, it's impossible.

I sipped my coffee and curled my tongue in pain as the coffee was too hot and had burnt it.

My hand landed on a magazine. I picked it up to find a very familiar face on the front cover. It was Kelly. I haven't heard from her in forever. Does she even know I'm here in the hospital. Or should I say, does she care?

Honesty, I was dreading the answer too that. I didn't want her if I got Kate, which will most likely never happen.

So I need to find a life long partner, my age clock is ticking. Always ticking.

I'll never be able to love a woman as much as I love Kate.

A blonde nurse walked in with more painkillers and water. She blushed and asked for an autograph.

"Sorry to bother you Mr DiCaprio," she giggled.

"It's fine," I smiled, handing her the paper with my signature.

"I really admire your work. With you acting skills and the stuff you do for the environment"

"Why thank you," I said politely.

She wasn't an old nurse. Probably in her twenties. We chatted briefly before she had to get back to her job.

I wonder where Kate is, she's been gone so long.

As I said it, she walked in.

Speak of the devil. The devil who stole my heart.

"Back from your trip across the Pacific Ocean?" I teased.

"Did I really take that long?" She laughed hysterically.

"Yes, you do know I have a thing for putting myself in deadly situations today. I could have died. What if a giant wasp came down and took me?"

"I'm sure that's possible," she said narrowing her eyes at me.

"Hey never know, this is bloody America," I joked. "Anything is possible. Who knew people would find ass wriggling attractive?"

"...and so twerking was invented," Kate finished. Then we cracked up laughing.

"No offense to any professional twerkers out there," I exclaimed.

"It's a profession?" Kate asked curiously.

"Don't know. America, remember?" I pointed out. "It probably will be if it isn't already."

"But you'd need to have a big ass to pull that off. Get plastic surgery on your butt. They probably should call it a 'Kim Kardashian' or something."

"Why are we talking about asses?"

"I don't know, you bought it up," Kate said. "Maybe you have a thing for asses."

"I don't have anything for or against asses thank you very much," I murmured. "I'd have 'for' and 'against' for global warming but not asses."

Kate laughed. "You and your global warming!"

"Giant wasps may raid the earth if we don't take action about global warming!" I quickly notified.

As me and Kate talked about strange things, a doctor came in.

"Mr DiCaprio, you will be discharged tomorrow, but you'll have annual checkups and I trust your friend Kate here is staying with you, am I correct?" The doctor asked.

"Yes that would be correct," Kate chimed in. "If it's okay with you Leo."

"Of course! I really appreciate you staying with me Kate," I smiled.

I wonder how Kelly will feel about Kate staying with us. She hasn't even called up since I got here.

If it's time for Kelly to leave, she will have to leave.
