Mia's POV
I grabbed my coat and rushed out to Cheryl's car, where she seated Bear in her own sons car seat and Joe hopped in next to Bear.
I hopped into the front with Cheryl, who started the engine and we started heading down the streets of New York, to the hospital.
Me and Joe were sitting in the game room, when Cheryl quickly came in and told us Leo had been shot.
We were shocked and still are. We decided to get to the hospital as quickly as possible.
Poor Leo! Who would do this to him? Someone as nice and kind as him? I hope whoever did this horrible deed is caught and pays for their sins.
We hopped out of the car and up the elevator. The hospital smelt of hand sanitizer, as we asked the receptionist about where his room was. She was very careful and reluctant to let people know where Leo's room was, because he was famous and all his fans came to visit him too. So many people had seen him being carried out in the stretcher.
After a long chat of proving we were like Leo's family and our mother was in there, she finally told us.
We rushed to room seventeen and found Leo in the bed, with mom sitting in the chair next to him.
"Leo!" We ran up to him and gave him a big hug, being careful of his arm.
"Hey kids," he said giving us a warm smile.
We were very careful not to touch his arm as we leaned in to give him a hug. He smelt of his usual cologne. Expect he looked different. It was so hard to explain.
Mom didn't look too good. In fact, she looked worse than Leo at some angles. Mom cared about Leo very much, I'm sure this experience must have given her a heart attack.
She had her makeup all over her face and he hair was falling apart. She looked really really bad. We decided she needed a rest, so we took her by the arm.
"Cheryl, can you please take Kate and the kids back to my place?" Leo said weakly.
Cheryl nodded. "Of course Leo, I'll make sure they are safe and sound."
"Thank you Leo but firstly, Ned has booked a hotel for us overnight, and secondly, I'm not going anywhere. I'll call Ned up to come pick the kids up," mom said.
"No Kate, you must go and get some rest! And what about your clothes?"
"I can drive Kate to your house and she can get changed and then I'll bring her back," Cheryl cut in.
"Oh no Cheryl, we have already been such a nuisance and you have gone to so much trouble already," confessed mom.
"Kate's right, you have helped so much, how can we ever thank you enough," Leo agreed.
"By letting me help some more," Cheryl smiled.
I glanced over at her, and she looked straight back at me and gave me a smirk.
*10 minutes earlier*
I watched the car moving, it seemed to be going so slowly, why is it so slow!
"Did you meet your dad?" Cheryl asked me as she drove.
"What? My dad?" I gave her a puzzled look.
"Yes, that guy that came before, he talked to Kate and put me on the phone with her, I let him in and he went upstairs to talk to you two," she explained.
"No one came in and talked to us," I said frowning.
"Well that's a bit odd..." Cheryl trailed off. "You know, I've seen the way your mother looks at Leo."
"I know, we reckon she likes him more than a friend."
"I wouldn't be surprised," she smiled.
"Me and Joe think he treats her a lot better than Ned ever will, it's a shame he came back to get us, he's our stepdad, only Bear's biological father. We don't like him very much, even Bear prefers Leo," I confessed.
We drove in silence for the rest of the trip to the hospital.
Kate's POV
There was no way that I was going to leave Leo behind. I'm not leaving this country till I know he is going to be alright. It was my job to book the flights anyway, I am not even going to think about booking them anymore, I'm staying with Leo as long as it takes.
Cheryl is honestly such an angel, Leo finally agreed after some arguing, to let me stay overnight in the hospital with him.
I decided to call Ned and let him know about what was going on.
"Hello?" Ned said on the other end of the line.
"Hi Ned, Leo has been shot, and I'm staying with him until he gets better. I'm not going back to England, not until I know he'll be alright."
"What! That's horrible!" Ned said in shock.
"So can you pick up the kids? They are at the hospital with Leo. Take them to the hotel you booked. Leo did insist you all stay at his house, but you have probably already booked the hotel room," I continued.
"Yeah I have. I'll go pick the kids up then."
"I will book four plane tickets back to England tomorrow, you are taking the kids back, as I don't know how long I will be. I'm heading over to Leo's right now, I'll grab their suitcases."
"I'm not sure about this Kate..." He added.
"It'll be fine, I know the kids will be reluctant to leave, but they have to."
I pray that Ned can look after them now after his vow to be a better husband. He can be really careless sometimes.
I hung up the phone as we pulled up on Leo's huge driveway. Running inside quickly while Cheryl loaded Mia, Joe, and Bear's suitcases into the car, I had the quickest rinse of my life, and threw on some comfortable clothes that were presentable and I could sleep in them too.
I washed all my makeup off and tied my hair into a simple low ponytail.
Hopping back into the car with Cheryl, I thanked her about a million times for her efforts.
"And please, if I can do anything at all, please give me a call," I said giving Cheryl my phone number.
"It's fine Miss Winslet!" She replied rolling her eyes at me.
"Please call me Kate!" I said grinning at her.
With that, we drove off out the gate. I wondered were Kelly was, and if she knew what had happened.
If she cared about what had happened.
