Two Months Later...

"Trick or Treat"

I sit down on the front steps beside Jack as he distributes the candy to the trick or treaters. They smile brightly up to him, before turning and running back down the driveway.

"They're so cute" I say, looking to Jack as he looks to me. "Well that's a nice get up" He states, looking at my costume. I had decided to go as Snow White. More of a modern one mixed with a late century type.

My dress was a dark turquoise blue, with a black corset around my stomach.   The corset has a gold leaf design on it, and it ties behind my back. My hair was pulled up on both sides, with my make up light.

The dress was long sleeved but I had brought a blanket out with me, wrapping it around my arms. Even though it was October, Halloween nights were always cold.

Guess I can't complain, soon I won't feel climate changes... Soon it will all feel the same...

"Yeah. Figured I'd go with a modern and late century approach this year" I say, slightly elbowing Jacks side. He gives me a small laugh, which I return, before we both look back out into the night.

"So where's your boyfriend.. Edward?" Jack asks, causing me to look at him. "Edwards not my boyfriend. Neither is Jake" I say, looking forward again. "Both are just really good friends" I say, looking from my lap to him.

"Jake's with his dad. They had some tribal Halloween party. And Edward is..." I pause, almost saying he's out hunting with his family. I let out a small laugh before continuing. "He's out with his family" I say, looking back to him.

"You didn't want to go with him?" Jack asks, looking back to me. I simply shrug my shoulders, glancing from the oncoming trick or treaters, back to him. "I'd rather spend time with you" I say, before greeting the kids.

"Trick or treat" They say in unison, and I'm the one to give them candy this time. They all thank me, before running off and to the next house.

"Well I'm more than capable of taking care of myself" Jack says, causing me to roll my eyes. "I never said you couldn't" I say, glancing to him. "It's just..." I pause as his eyes flicker to me.

"We haven't spent a lot of time together and well... I miss hanging out with you is all" I say, looking down the driveway again.

"Yeah, I can't say I don't miss you too Lil" Jack says. He softly elbows my side, causing me to smile at him. "Thanks" I say, laying my head on his shoulder.

It's times like this that I'm going to miss most.

I feel my eyes water, causing me to sit up quickly. I clear my throat as another group of kids start walking up the driveway, one sticking out the most.

It was a small girl, around the age of six. She's wearing a long burgundy gown, with a small cape attached. Her hair is in a bun on her head, with a small crown placed on top.

When she gets closer I see the small lines of what appears to be make up, but is supposed to be blood, draining down the corners of her mouth. Her skin is painted pale cream color and you can see the small fangs peaking out from under her top lip.

"Hello sweetie. What are you supposed to be?" I ask, giving her a fake smile, my eyes never leaving her fangs. "I'm supposed to be a vampire. I'll suck your blood and set your body on fire" She says, causing Jack to laugh aloud beside me.

I swallow the lump in my throat and give her a small fake laugh, before Jack hands them their candy, and they run off to the next house.

Yeah, something to look forward to...
