You don't understand how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have.

The day dragged on but school finally ended for the weekend and I was able to sigh in relief; I had a strange few day's. School is meant to be a way for me to relax and get away from reality for a while, considering all I do at home is over think and by doing that I hurt myself more and more. But the last few days have been odd and I've been thinking more than I should do whilst I'm at school too.

I made my way over to Lucas' car after Mr Smith let me off of the detention, he said he couldn't be bothered to watch a bunch of annoying rats and that he'd rather go home to his four cats; weird, I know. Lucas wasn't there yet but someone else was stood there facing the car, he turned around and smiled at me.

"Hey there precious." Nathan wiggled his eyebrows.

"Hello?" I responded but it turned out sounding more like a question.

"You remind me of my chapstick. Because you da balm." He smirked.

"Woah, that was pretty good." I grinned at his childish pick up line.

Nathan moved closer towards me and spoke "I was wondering whether you'd maybe like to go out for dinner or something, some time?" He then scratched the back of his neck.

Omg did Nathan just ask me out on a date? Say no, Nancy. Lucas doesn't like him. Nathan is a player and he'll just hurt your feelings. I thought to myself for a good few moments, whilst I stood awkwardly and stared at him.

"She's not interested, so back off." Lucas said in an annoyed tone as he walked towards us.

Nathan hesitated for a moment but then moved back. "Urm sure, I mean sorry."

"Let's go home now, shall we?" Lucas said as he sat down in the drivers seat.

"Okay" Nathan responded then sat down in the passengers seat.

I just stood there for a few seconds, confused. I sighed then sat down in the back of the car. The car ride home was- awkward isn't even a word close enough to what it actually was. Lucas didn't speak at all nor did Nathan, they both looked annoyed.

As soon as we arrived home, I ran up to my room, lazily jumped onto my bed then grabbed my phone and got on to a three way video chat with my two best friends.

"Hey." We all said one after the other.

"Nathan asked me out on a date but Lucas told him that I'm not interested so he should back off." I muttered way too quickly for them that it took them over two minutes to process what I had just thrown at them.

"No bloody way! Holy shit." Hannah screeched loud enough to nearly deafen me.

"My thought exactly." I answered.

Hannah then moaned for many minutes about Lucas saying no to Nathan, she thinks he shouldn't have done so.

Sarah remained quiet for a while but then spoke "maybe Lucas is right, you know Nathan isn't the type to be serious with a girl."

"I guess so." I replied.

"Yeh but he's beautiful." Hannah sighed. "And have you not seen the way he looks at you, Nancy? Well who wouldn't look at you like that? You're drop dead gorgeous. No wonder all the girls are jealous of you." She rambled on.
