Chapter 10 - But I Loved You

Here I am sitting in the class while my maths teacher is teaching something new and for the first time in my entire life, I am not even paying attention.

"Jennifer. I know it's your birthday today but that doesn't mean you can daydream in my lesson."

"Sorry." I shifted from my seat and out of my peripheral vision, I could see Ryan looking at me. My heart beat simply picked up and I started to feel nervous. How am I going to tell him?

I can't do it. I've never done this before.

But I have to tell him, I just can't wait for him. He might be assuming that I am still into Finn.

The bell rang.

"Yes!" I whispered to myself. Finally!

I have no idea how I will tell him but I'll have to find a way and do it today. God, please don't embarrass me in front of him.

I stood up from my seat and stuffed all my books in my bag. I hung my bag around my shoulder and turned around, hoping to see Ryan, but I saw all my friends, grinning at me mischievously.

I frowned. Not now.

"Happy birthday!" They all cheered loudly and I was gifted a big, bone crushing and sweet group hug from them.

"Our baby pie is 17! They grow up so fast!" Kayla, the drama queen, said and wiped an invisible tear on her cheek. Yeah, I am the youngest of all my besties. Kayla and Gemma entwined their arms with mine.

"Let's go now! We have a surprise!" Anna squealed in excitement. They started to lead me out of the class. I looked behind them and saw Ryan looking at me. He smiled at me. It was just a simple smile but it shook every single cell in my body.

"Guys, can you wait a sec. I need to do-"

"You're all ours today birthday girl." Gemma said and I was out of the class, out of Ryan's sight.

Ryan's POV:

What should I do? Should I meet her up?

"It's her birthday! Of course you should meet her!" Dan said while we all walked out of the school.

"Did you wished her a happy birthday?" Erick asked.

"No."

"We all did and you didn't? What a jerk." Alec said looking straight ahead.

"Ok! Alec you've been acting all fucked up since a few days! If you're so pro on this matter then tell me what should I do." I stopped and crossed my arms over my chest and waited for him to answer.

He turned around, looking as bored as ever and said "Simple. Wish her happy birthday."

Erick and Dan burst out laughing.

"You can atleast do that." Erick said in between laughs, putting his hand on my shoulder. I shook it off

"Fuck off."

"I have a better idea." I said.

"Really? And what is it?" Erick asked with a smirk.

"It's . . . none of your business." I said and walked toward the mall.

I've bought what I needed: A fresh rose and a box of chocolate but how am I going to give this to her. She had not even talked to me the whole day. Maybe she's still pissed off at me for kissing her.

I sat on the bench, thinking if she'll come out today at night or not. If she does then I can give this to her then but if she doesn't then I'll have to think of something.
